look at the cord real good,is there any cut in it or do yo see any small wires where it goes into the vaccuum.you either have a bad switch or a bad cord,mor than likely the cord is bad .put the switch in the on position and tap on it with the hadle of a screwdriver and see if it comes on.if it does then its the switch.feel for any breaks in the cord.look at the plug on the cord and see if it looks ok
