Question about Whirlpool LHW0050PQ Front Load Washer
It appears you have a mechanical latch for the door and one of the components is broken. You can try to pull the handle to the open position and look behind the handle and see if you can get a hold of the latch with a pair of needle nose pliers or a bent coat hanger. Pull the latch lever toward you to release the door. Once you get it open, do not close again. The latch will have to be fixed, replacing the broken mechanism.
If you are unable to get it unlocked that way, you can remove the top on the machine by removing the two screws in the back and lifting the top off. You can then go down through the top and release the latch and repair it.
Good luck, let me know.
