Locate voltage regulator above battery to the left as you sit on machine, its behind frame that supports steering wheel.Once you have found it use a light to shine on harness and follow the brown wire that leads into regulator. The plastic around that wire should not be burnt or showing any other color. The LX series machines had a problem with brown wire coming loose and causing the charging light to stay on.Remove plug from reg and use small screwdriver to clean out wire and work it a little so it makes good contact.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
This is a generic response to all John Deere Variator linkages but most likely what you must do with a transmission change.
To adjust the "Variator linkage" do the following.
1. Pry off the buttons on the side that cover the access holes located just below the variable speed lever.
2. Put the variable speed lever in notch #5.
3. Loosen cap screw one or two turns. This is located inside the hole.
4. Disconnect and ground the spark plug.
5. Turn ignition key to crank engine until clutch-brake pedal raises as high as it will go.
6. Take up linkage slack by pushing down on cap screw (see step #2). Tighten cap screw.
NOTE: If the tractor won't move with the variator in the first notch after these adjustments then the primary drive belt needs to be replaced.
I am concerned that maybe you did not connect the linkage properly but you have to do the above steps if no matter what you do you only have slow speeds.
