Display shows lines and color not displayed properly

A line vertically down the screen (usually bright green) is a failed column strobe. This can be caused by the connections at the top of the screen failing or the strobe chip starting to die.

Random colours can be caused by a cracked screen or a failed video card.

Best to take it to a repair shop for it to be assessed.

On 5 sec after off laptops

You could try to start the computer in safe mode, to see if this is driver issue. When starting computer, press down F8 and select safe mode startup. If monitor works in safemode, try to reinstall display driver.

Also you could check with external monitor, to isolate where the issue is related to. If external monitor works fine, it might be HW problem with your laptop monitor.

Acer aspire 5738 screen fade

From your description, you may either have a bad cable to the LCD on your laptop or the LCD screen itself is going bad. I would guess a repair shop may charge $100-200 for the parts and labor, but you'll have to check your local area for price estimates.

Since your computer is nearly 3 years old, you may want to consider purchasing a new computer, especially since they start at $300-500 brand new.

When i start the laptop, only green lite indicate, but there is no display show's, & some time laptop start clearly, but after some time display get's hang or lines come on the display, or white or

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS (operating system) or a virus in the OS. Also it is possible that the backup battery (CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect. In this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card. Sometimes the memory card connections can be faulty either on the card or on the slot. Cleaning the slot and card must be done before you try a replacement. If the PC boots and fails then the hard disc can have bad sectors or is corrupt. However if there is no result the motherboard also can be suspected. In this case you might need the help of proper tools and equipment support to do a chip level service.

Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7438 won't boot

If your are just talking about getting the external display to work (meaning your laptops display works) they usually have a hotkey to switch screen such as FN (function key, usually where the windows key would be on desktop keyboards) + F5. Somewhere on your laptop you should see a picture of 2 monitors with a line between them on one of your keys hold FN and press that key and it should switch displays.

Display Problem

It is possible, judging by that fact that pressing down temporarily fixes it, that the video cable for the screen (I'm assuming this is a laptop?) has come loose. Pull off the keyboard and try reseating the cable, that may help.
