most websites that I've been on have suggested that the coils (solenoid) may be bad. Unfortunately, to access them isn't so easy and I've called a repair person out to the house today. Hopefully, with the information I've gathered, I won't get ripped off!
    Thanks for your help.

HI, this will occur when the gas valve coils are malfunctioning. The coils are black, located on top of the gas valve. It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Dryer is not heating enough to dry the clothes. It is 9 years old, is it better to just invest in a new dryer?

After 9 years you are going to need to replace some parts. If the ignitor works and the flame sensor is shutting down the gas but the flame stops after a while or not at all then them cols need to be replaced. themobilian_2331.jpgthemobilian_2332.jpgthemobilian_2333.jpg

My dryer when turned on the gas lights and runs for about 2 minutes then the gas flame shuts off?

it should shut off and come back on when the thermostat tells it to,also you could have a blocked vent line or the duct is blocked, when did you last clean out the dryer?you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, blow out the vent line,if it's a long run from the back of dryer to outside i use a leaf blower to clean out the line, next vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,do this once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time.also with gas sometime the gas coils fail, they will heat for the first 15 to 30 minutes then the flame won't lite until the coils cool down, then they will work again,if you need anymore help let me know and send model number

BURNER WILL NOT LITE AFTER THE INITIAL HEAT CYCLE,THE IGNITER COMES ON BUT NO GAS COMES THRU. ALL IHEAR IS A CHATTERING SOUND COMING FROM THE BURNER AREA. THIS IS A KENMORE GAS DRYER, SER.# LGR762OLGO

if the igniter glows do u see the flame, and then shuts off,
you can have a copule things going there

one you might a block exhaust vent, full of lint, even when it seems like the duct is clear all the way to the outside, you might have some lint inside the unit, try cleaning it by removing the back panel screews, the air duct, and then remove i thinks is 4 or 5 screws from the air shoot, open it an clean the inside, what sometimes happens is that the blockage is there on the duct, the heat is created but won't exit the unit, and it back flows, rising the temp, and the dryer won't turn back on till it cools off

if you clean the ducts an you still have the problem, then i would look at 2 thigs first the coils replace em

an then the gas valve....

goosd luck post some feed back thanks!

Sears kenmore gas dryer 417.92052101does not stay lit.

Watch the burner assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should begin to glow. If it glows for several seconds (up to 15 seconds) and then goes out, then the problem is probably the solenoids (coils). If the ignitor glows and stays on, then the problem is usually the flame sensor.

Gas dryer continues to run on the Auto cycle.

try to get the manual for the dryer you got and locate the moisture sensor if this sensor is bad what happen is that the automatic timer thinks that the clothes still wet and continues to dry once the sensor detects no moisture then it shut off the dryer normally is located behind the dryer on the exit line of the air duct and tested for conductivity and see if is good or not

Amana gas dryer only heats first 20 minutes

Check your ducts that the heat blows out through. make sure there is no plug up in the dryer or in the ductwork.
You may have a problem with the termosensor or the high temp cut out safety switch/sensor. This sensor would be somewhere in the exhaust of the dryer.
