Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

The lcd says "check printer" and shows the number 6000. The power and alarm lights flash on and off. The print cartridges are in the far right position. I tried unplugging and moving print cartridges. This week I inserted new cartridges and printed an alignment sheet -- all seemed good. The thing seems dead in the water. What do you think, and how much will it cost me to find out? Thanks, Bill Schaefer

Canon says to reset the printer by shutting it off and waiting 30 seconds before turning it back on. It looks loke you have done that when you unplugged it to try moving your cartridges.

They also say to remove a paper jam if there is one.

If you don't have a paper jam you can follow this link to Canon and try to get some help through email. I don't know if this link is clickable and if not you can copy and paste it in your browser.

I am refilling the black ink of my canon printer using continuous ink container but the black color doesn't flow into the end of the hose and it didn't print at all, please help

  • Check the printer's power/alarm light. If it is flashing orange, count the number of flashes. Look up the flash code in your printer's user manual to diagnose the problem.
  • 2 Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges if the power/alarm light flashes 5, 7 or 15 times consecutively. This indicates that the issue is a cartridge error, an incorrectly installed cartridge, or an unrecognized cartridge. These errors can be fixed by reinstalling the ink cartridges. Make sure that you are using the correct ink cartridges for your Canon printer.

  • Turn on the printer and open the front cover. The ink cartridge holder should move to the replacement position.
  • 4 Verify that the colored ink cartridge is inserted in the slot on the right and the black ink cartridge is inserted in the slot on the left. Swap the cartridges and reinstall them in the correct slots if necessary.
  • 5 Check to see that both ink cartridges are level with one other and parallel to the top of the ink cartridge holder. If either cartridge is wedged at an angle, gently apply pressure to the cartridge until it clicks into the correct position.
  • 6 Close the front cover of your Canon printer and wait while the printer initializes the newly installed cartridges. This can take a minute or two.

    Won't print

    Turn the printer off.
    Wait 20 seconds.
    Turn the printer on.
Lift the cover -- hopefully, the print-head will move to the position where the cartridges can be accessed.
    Remove one cartridge.
    Re-insert that cartridge.
    Close the lid.
If you still get the "blinking", re-open the lid, remove the other cartridge, and re-insert that cartridge.

Otherwise, see: http://www.usa.canon.com and enter your model-number, and download the manual (PDF) and follow its directions, or read the online-help for your specific PIXMA.
