Power failed during MSI P67A-C43 B3 bios update

Download the latest BIOS update from your computer manufacturer's website onto a USB flash drive. Refer to your user manual to obtain the manufacturer's website address. If the downloaded BIOS file is a zip archive, unzip the contents onto your USB flash drive. Jumper settings may need to be reconfigured on some motherboards to enter BIOS recovery mode. Most Intel-based motherboards have a jumper setting or switch near the on-board CMOS battery. The procedure for setting the jumpers will vary depending on your motherboard make and model, so refer to the motherboard documentation for specific instructions. Power on the computer and press "F2" to access the Setup Mode menu. If you are unable to access the setup menu, you will not be able to proceed with this repair. Take your computer to a repair shop, as the motherboard may need to be replaced. Use the arrow key to select "Boot Priority" or a similarly named field. Press the "Enter" key. Scroll down until "First boot priority" or "First boot drive" is selected and press "Enter." Select the USB flash drive as the first boot priority device. Press the "F10" key to save this setting and exit from the setup menu. Connect the USB flash drive to an open USB port on your computer. Then let your computer fully reboot. The USB flash drive should be detected and the BIOS should update automatically. When the update is complete, you may be prompted to restart your computer, or it may reboot automatically. If you are able to use your computer without any further problems of overheating or failure to recognize drives, your failed BIOS update has been resolved.

I need boot my computer from usb. what I need?

Generally, you need a few things:

1. The PC has to support booting from a USB flash/pen/key drive. There may be anywhere from 1-3 items to change in the BIOS settings to make this possible assuming your BIOS supports it. Some BIOS's may refer to your flash drive as a USB floppy or USB zip. Of course there are exceptions.
2. The USB flash drive must support booting from it in general.
3. The flash drive must contain the boot/system files.
4. The flash drive must have bootsector area. This is done with special utilities.

Check out this comprehensive link to make a bootable USB / flash drive in your choice of several different Operating Systems.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you!

Want to re-format MSI Notebook S420. Screen continuously shows windows 'loading' but never boots. I have the recovery CD but because the computer never actually starts, I'm not sure what to do with it!MSI

Hello megan_van

While your laptop is on, eject the optical drive and insert the recovery CD. Turn off your laptop via the power button, and turn it back on. The recovery CD should boot. Follow the on-screen instructions to do a clean install.

If the recovery CD doesn't boot, try holding down the C key after turning on your laptop. If it still doesn't boot, you will have to change the boot order in BIOS. Don't worry, this is easier than it sounds! Follow these instructions:

1. Turn on your laptop, and look for a message that says something like PRESS (USUALLY F2, F8, DEL, ETC.) TO ENTER SETUP / BIOS. Hit that key before the Windows logo appears.

2. After hitting the relevant key, you'll be taken to the BIOS setup utility. All BIOS utilities have different appearances, but it is basically a set of menus containing different settings for your laptops hardware. Somewhere on the screen (usually the bottom), is a set of instructions for navigation your way around the BIOS. Follow these instructions to navigate your way to the option for changing the boot order.

N.B. Since every BIOS setup utility is different, the specifics on where the boot order options are located varies from computer to computer. The menu option or configuration item might be called boot options, boot, boot order, etc. The boot order option may even be located in a general menu like advanced options, advanced BIOS features, other options, etc.

3. Once you've located it, use the navigational controls to place the optical drive above the hard drive (usually the +/- keys). To be certain that the recovery CD boots, it's probably best to move the optical drive to the top of this list.

4. Within the navigational controls, there is usually an option to SAVE & EXIT. Press this key. If there isn't, look for a menu option with the heading EXIT. A SETUP CONFIRMATION box will now usually appear asking you to confrm the changes you've made to the BIOS before exiting.

N.B. The SETUP CONFIRMATION box can sometimes be worded cryptically. Read the message carefully to be sure that you're saving your changes instead of exiting WITHOUT saving your changes!

Your computer should now restart automatically, and the recovery CD should now boot.

Hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

When I turn on my MSI M510C notebook - ''reboot and select proper

Your notebook does not see the proper boot files on your C drive. Many times the boot.ini has been corrupted.
You will need a Windows XP Install CD mounted in the CD Rom. When you boot the system you need to choose the CD as the boot device (if the notebbok does not do it by default) then typr R to enter the recovery console. Once you get the C: prompt you will need to create a new boot.ini file using the bootcfg command. See the following website for details in using the Recovery Console:

I've read this problem due to new hardware interferences with desktop computers, all they had to do is change a few pins around on the harddrives.. since this is a laptop, and is quite difficult and dodgy to access the hardware, the only other suggestion is to reinstall windows with a recovery disk, or windows CD-ROM.

Hope this helps :)
