Question about NEC MultiSync MT850 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

How do I align the color on an MT850

IMy MT805 has been great for years. Over the past two months however, the color alignment seems to be slipping further and further out of alignment. When I display anything, I can now clearly see a red image, a blue image and a green image, all across the screen. I need to adujst the colors so that they overlay each other(convergance I think) but no where can I find the prodedure to do so.
Can you help me?

pls check the board before the color wheel, as it is noticed that this problem comes with the main PCB Board.

Shut down the projector and allow time to cool before the lamp is taken out to be examined for any dis-coloration. If so the lamp needs to be replaced, try to test using a leased lamp to confirm Also check for shift in the alignment of the lamp settings and also the Lamp alignment.

Colors out of alignment Epson EMP 500

You LCD optical engine is out of alignment. This will require an authorized service center to make the adjustment or even replace the unit if necessary. There are 3rd party companies that offer this service, perhaps in your own town or nearby. You may want to weight the cost of repair to purchasing a newer unit.

Color shift

Hi there

There is unfortunatelly no section in the Service Manual to explain this sort of procedure.

You'll have to move the LCD panels one by one - millimeter by millimeter.

Alignment (convergence) of color panels MT1050

I can assist you with that if you want. It is very tedious, but can be done. You need a cross hatch pattern generator or something with vertical and horizontal lines to lineup the LCD Panels again. Tricky little procedure if your not familiar with it. Let me know if i can assist you and hopefully save you agravation at the same time. Thanks Jay

Color alignment is off

i also have the exact same problem. i picked up 3 of these used for my work and kept one at home. I knew one had issues and another had a burned out bulb and so on. I had a repair place to combine the two to make one good one. The repair man said that they had a real hard time keeping the color locked in alignment. It's not a physical alignment, its controlled by the board output and somehow the board can be adjusted. It was vague to me. After about a good couple of years of hard use the one at home is now doing the same. On one hand I want to fix it but I dont even have a plasma so I may go and spend $800-$1000 on a hi def DLP. At that price it won't be the best but it will rock this projector. that would be my advice rather than putting more money into this old model.
