You can purchase a bottle of rust converter at any auto parts store, and then all you need to do is purchase appliance paint..

I have an original 400 l Whirlpool fridge (1995?). The door has started developing rust patches-can it be painted again?

you can buy a spray(aerosol)paint for domestic appliances from most hardware depts.BUT,getting rid of the rust first is your prime concern.otherwise it will come through very quickly.use a rust killer from the car accessory shop.

fridge/freezers are only painted on the OUTSIDE,the interior has only got primer,so if kept in a garage or any high humdity area rust will occur.(from the inside out, like a car)NO CURE......thats the way makers get you to buy new.....

Whirlpool gold GT4175SPS-2 inside door paint is flaking and revealing metal. Is it safe to use?

Hi,

Scratches, flaking and bare spots are fairly common, but should be addressed as soon as they arise so the corrosion will not spread and arcing does not occur.

Unplug the power cord first.

Take some mild sanding cloth or scotchbright and clean the bare and rusted areas in the microwave. Use appliance touch up paint to re-coat the surface. You can find the touch up at most anywhere that sells appliances, it comes in a plastic bottle similar in appearance to fingernail polish, yes it does have a brush inside.

Let it dry per the instructions on the bottle or 24 hours if not specified.

Get your refrigerator repainted before it is too late. It isn't that costly. Cracks may be due to rusting. Ask those mechanics about it when you give it for painting.

Rust spots appear on the doors and arount the ice

Hi; Yes I would say its covered under a warranty. Trying to get the manufacture to repair it for free maybe not. Thats a questionable area. I would argue that the painting process had a problem that day. But if no warranty open door and dry off really good then brush with a steel brush to bring up rust then spray or paint on a rust eliminator. After it dries You can call Your local paint store for some appliance epoxy paint. Do a smooth job from the begining and a good flat surface will be ready for Your door gaskets...alpharome416

Repainting doors on whirlpool white refrigerator

oowwwww!!! thats what we call in the refrig biz "refrig cancer" the door itself is actually rusting from the inside out. the older refrigs used fiberglass insulation inside the doors which has a tendency to hold moisture, and overthe years rusts through. the new door use blown-in poly styrene foam far less likey to hold moisture. That being said you could remove the door lightly sand and paint, can of krylon enamal aint should do it, at least for a little while anyway
