How do i fix an outboard motor that jumps out of reverse gear when poweris applied

thee are gear cable adjustment that ensure complete engagement of the drive dog in the leg
If it properly adjusted then you will have to pull te leg off and dissemble the gear box and fit new gears and a dog clutch
because it is a straight engagement into square segments and the engine shaft is running it hits and misses until it eventually engages
over time instead of square segments they become tapered and so will slip back out of gear under load
the operator will normally be at fault as the engagement should be at low idle with a sharp movement of the selector lever

Yamaha royal star motorcycle cluch whine and shudder in 4th and 5th gear at any speed

It is slipping. These big yamahas normally have slipping clutches. Mine slips, I've just learned to baby the clutch. Make sure you are in the most comfortable gear for the speed you are running at. Avoid rolling on full power at low speeds in higher gears. It's the nature of these great beasts. Clutch springs are too weak in these bikes, you may consider an aftermarket clutch spring assembly. The "shudder"(intermittent slipping) is caused by glazing. Make sure you are using the right lubricants for your bike, some synthetics can cause problems.

1)Adjust clutch cable correctly, check
2)Pull the clutch assembly apart, if there is little wear then you have "glazed" plates, clean each plate with 600 grit sandpaper and reassemble...get a new clutch spring assembly (weakened spring causes "shudder", slippage, and consequently glazing). Reassemble and adjust correctly (many forums out there with info).
3)Replace the full assembly and adjust correctly at setup. Adjust regularly....I check adjustment about every 300-500 miles.
4)Pay a shop to do these things for you.

Transfer case slips out of gear when the jeep is

In the gearbox is a selector, the selector is hold by a pin with a spring behind it. The spring or pin could be worn out. Good luck.

'Transmission slips in 1st, all other gears fine, makes a clicking sound and slips in and out of 1st at about 3000RPM would like to know if i have to tear down completely, and if so, how big of a job is...

HI, FIRST THING I WOULD DO IN THIS CASE WOULD BE TO DRAIN THE ENGINE OIL INTO A CLEAN CONTAINER AND CHECK FOR PARTICALS OF METAL, A WORN GEAR COULD HAVE BROKEN TEETH OR DOGS, THIS WOULD BE VISIBLE WHEN POURING THE OIL FROM THE CONTAINER. IT WOULD BE A BIG JOB, REMOVING THE ENGINE AND STRIPING THE BOTTOM END OF THE ENGINE TO REMOVE THE GEARBOX, NO NEED TO STRIP THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE, IF YOU CONTINUE TO USE THIS MACHINE FURTHER DAMAGE WILL OCCURE, CONTAMINATED OIL WILL DAMAGE OTHER ENGINE PARTS, BIG END SHELLS, PISTONS ETC.
HOPE THIS HELPS,PAUL

Bought a 1981 Xr200R with a defect kickstarter(doesn't grip when you push down on it),took everything apart after the guy at the local honda center told me it's most likely a broken spring, all the springs...

It sounds as thou the dogs/gears are sticky or a week spring .it is possible it was left off but if you don't want to do the extra work thin i would replace the spring and inspect. Have Good Day.

1972 Honda CB750K2. Clutch started slipping at high speed (over 75mph). No noticeable slipping at lower speeds even when punching it through the gears. Also has a slight chatter when sitting in nuetral,...

hi,it sounds like your bike is just about due for a new set of clutch plates(my gsxr race bike did the same thing, put in new plates..problem gone),as far as the rattle or chatter this is normally caused by weak clutch springs or in some cases the clutch basket its self may be worn, not a big job to replace either, most clutch kits come with new fibre plates ,new steel plates and new springs, fit a new kit in the bike and i think most if not all your problems will disappear...cheers

Slipping clutch

clutch basketYou will need the fibre clutch plates and I would be replacing the clutch springs because the 400 had weeker springs than the 450 (04YM). Also check if the metal plates are blue this is a sign they are bernt and they may need replacing if it has been slipping for a period of time. Use 10w 40 oil. Motul or Motoex oil they are good and go genuine some non genuine plates can swell and cause drag. Sometimes the basket may have small wear marks on the fingers. If it has you can clean them up with a file but dont take to much off. The only other reason you would replace the basket is if the damper rubbers between the basket and big gear are worn.Try and move the gear and hold the basket, if the gear moves the dampers are worn and need replacing, I think you can get the dampers seperate. If you go to a good Gas Gas dealer you wont get riped off, I would take your plates in and ask for the mechanic for advice and not the parts person.,,,
