  • cassanoc@aol Jul 23, 2009

I have purchases the scanner from e-bay, I expect it in a week, I can get the codes for my Dodge Dakota that way and I understand I cannot with the Suzuki. I will have to wait until the scanner gets here. I will keep you informed. Thank you very much for your help so far.

Sorry I did not include the year make and model in my problem. I supplied in all that information when I filled in the innitial form and expected it to carry over with my request. Looks like I was mistaken.

In order to get the most out of the site and fix your problem quick......please let us know your year, make, model and trim level.

Pre-1996,it;s OBD-1 and you can get fault code(s) by truing the key or use a jumper.

You mention a Suzuki.

What is the year, and model.

I need more information.

Please ADD the information on this post and I will follow up on it.

Suzuki XL-7 production year ran between 2001 to 2009.

    Your respond was 1985?

Please reply with the VIN number and I will look it up for you.

If you are going to work on car at a hobbist level then you should get a OBD-II scan with CAN bus interface.

The one that can read live data will cost more.

    It is worth it.

Do you have any friend that may own a scanner?

Pull the code and get back to me.

Do you have a budget for an OBD-II scanner?

Please let me know what price range you are looking for and I can recommend one for you.

Are you still on this project. I want to know are you able to locate/purchase a OBD-II / OBD-2 scanner unit?

Your 2005 is a OBD-II / OBD-2 computer system. You CAN NOT get the MIL codes by turning the key.

Please give me reply when you got a chance.

May I ask which brand and model OBD-II scanner you are getting?

A nice one can provide live data on sensors.

    Anthony

Please post the make and model of your OBD-II scanner on the comment page/box.

A better OBD-II scanner can monitor LIVE data and it can help you resolve the problem quickly.

I will check on this comment page later.

Hey there, if you have an Auto Zoe nearby, the will read the error code for free and tell you what the problem is. Also, Jiffy Lube has a machine they call SAM that will read your codes but the do charge 15 dollars. Let me know how you make out.

You need to find a new shop that can actually diagnose
a vehicles evap system & the emission monitors

You can not do that without professional tools & knowledge

Don't know how many times you need to be told that

The shop you went to isn't doing anything apparently

You have problems to find & resolve & no one else will
give you a different answer, if they even work on vehicles,
or have knowledge of the obd systems & only the pros have
the test equipment needed

Hi Team, Good Afternoon. I purchased a 2005 Toyota Corolla 1 month ago (Used Car). As soon as I got the car I got the check Engine light. I took the car to Toyota of Irving and they told me that it was...

Did you buy this from a dealer? if so, you should have taken it back ASAP I dont know why you didnt have the Toyota Dealer fix the car, now your in the middle of a mess, getting 2 shops involved, and the car still has a problem. When you bought the car, whoever you bought it from, knew there was a problem, cleared the code and it took a while for the check engine light to come back on. So now you will just have to pay someont to fix the car. The trans shop told you it needed a converter and solenoid, the problem is still there, so make it their problem. I think you need someone who knows toyota . theres no recall that I know of. Recalls are free, anyhow. . ecm is warranteed 8 years or 80k miles. Have the dealer check it out. Have them Check Bulletin TC008-04 and T-SB-0378-08

Hello. go back to auto zone and have them reset your computer so there are no codes. then drive as usual and wait to see if the check engine light comes on again soon. Most likely it will not. AAMCO repair shops also do a free scan and reset.

CTS 2004 shuts down when making a stop and car lost thrust on Hwy

Tell the dealership uhugh. if the check engine light comes on, there is an error code which gets stored in the computer. on the nicer vehicles (like yours)it stores vehicle information at the time when the error occured....eg battery voltage, rpm, speed, temperature, rpm etc. you need the find out what the error code is. that would give you an idea on where to start looking

hope this helps

Check engine light was on yesterday, off today

Ford's can store info in the computer for a while . you can take it in to a shop and have them put a code reader on the port under the dash and tell you what happened... Sometimes these codes are just a one-time event and they will clear themselves... But a reputable shop will tell you the code and if it's a worry or not. Let me know.

With the engine OFF and the ignition key ON, press the OFF and WARM buttons together on the A/,C conrol panel, hold down for 5 sec and release. read and write down all codes retrieved. Now I would then CLEAR the codes by pressing OFF and HI hold together till "00" and release.Push AUTO to go back to normal screen. Now take the car for 10 mile ride and see if the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT reappears. If so, rereat previous step and let me know.
