The problem is a vertical deflection issue, it means the picture from top to bottom has collapsed. The set will require two or three capacitors and an ic and it is quite fixable.
I had white lines 4" thick vertically for about a week, then one day powered the unit up and with in 3 seconds there was a loud pop from the rear or the unit. Any one know what needs to be replaced?
have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?"
I would love to save the TV.
Hi
nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn.
"Vertical Collapse?"
means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen.
this problem can be solved
1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose
2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer
check components in vertical section or print loose
regards
thanks
IF THE LINE IS ABOUT 1INCH WIDE THE CHANCES ARE IT WILLBE YOUR PLASMA DISPLY THAT HAS GONE . WOULD BR CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW UNIT . HOWEVER TRY RINGING HITACHI EXPLAIN THE FAULT COMPLAIN THAT IT SHOULD OF LASTED LONGER THAN THE WARANTY AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT
you probably just need to resolder the vertical output IC. It will be mounted on a heat sinc. probably 7-10 pins. Part number may start with "LA" like LA7845 or similar, there are others though. You will probably see the rings around the solder joints on the bottom of the board. Good Luck
The two symptoms are related and are associated with the high voltage transformer, since the problem developed overnight is going to the help of a qualified technician to diagnose the cause,if you are familiar with tv service look at the horizontal output transformer for signs of damage but be careful, there are dangerous voltages present.Or be safe and call for help.
