The first step is to remove the eight bolts/screws holding the wet end to the motor. After that the pump just slides apart.Once opened the diffuser and seal plate are exposed. The diffuser just slides off the seal plate. To remove the impeller you will need to hold the shaft from the back side of the motor. This one uses a large screwdriver in the slot on the motor shaft. Some use a 9/16" wrench. While holding the shaft unscrew the the impeller. The impeller holds the seal plate to the motor, so it too will come off once the impeller is removed. Let me know how this turns out.

I have a ao smith sp 1520 2 hp pool pump. the impeller broke off the shaft. how do i change the broken impeller please

Remove the back of the motor ... you will find there are flats on the shaft. Put your 7/16 or 1/2 open end wrench there and with your other hand, spin off the broken impeller.

How to seperate pump from motor

Disconnect all power. Remove the six bolts holding the seal plate to the wet end. Remove the two small allen screws to remove the diffuser. Remove the dust cap from the end of the motor and secure the shaft from moving. If installed, remove the Phillips head screw in the center of the impeller by turning clockwise (left hand threads). You can now remove the impeller by turning counter clockwise, note that you may need an impeller wrench to remove it and a specific tool to hold the shaft while you remove the impeller. Once the impeller is off you can remove the four bolts that hold the motor to the seal plate. This process just needs to be reversed to re-install but you will need a new shaft seal (PS-1000).

We are having issues getting the impeller apart on the jacuzzi magnum force pool pump and need some instructions on how to proceed.

I believe the jacuzzi pump impeller has a locking screw directly in the middle of the impeller. You'll have to turn it clockwise to remove it. Then you'll need to remove the cover from the back of the motor using a 1/4" nut driver. Depending on the motor, you should be able to use a 7/16" open end wrench to hold the motor shaft from turning as you turn the impeller counter-clockwise to remove it. Some motors are different, some have a keyed shaft or require a special tool to hold the shaft while the impeller is removed. Hope this helps.

How do you release the motor from the pump

Take off the impeller. You will need to hold the motor shaft from the back and spin the impeller off. Check in the mouth of the impeller for a screw. This will need to be removed first.
