My lenovo 20150 lap top was perfectly OK ,then suddenly the screen went off,never came back on.

if you on a pc or lap top , right up in the top rh corner you will see three small rectangles
the first one takes the screen off altogether and saves it to the task bar
the second cuts the screen to 60% or back to full screen
the last closes of the browser session.( red cross)

this is a buffer issue.

do the line go through the menu if you display the menu when the lines are visible?

do the lines go from the top to the bottom of the screen or stop halfway there?

do the lines change colors?

if the lines go over the menu and all the way down to the bottom of the screen, then its a buffer issue, top and bottom buffer.

hopefully it's just halfway then you only have to replace the top buffer, less money to spend.

Switch back to internal monitor in bios setup or do both internal and external monitor.

Darkened screen as you describe indicates a failing inverter. You can test this easily by plugging the laptop into an external monitor, if this works ok, then the inverter needs replaced, If it does not work, the problem is with the graphics chip / motherboard

hi msinon, connect another external screen to the IBM-machine to check if simply the screen is broken.
If that does not help, remove the RAM-memory module (see instructions or manual), retry booting up without it, if still not lucky, the mainboard is broken and you will have to exchange it or get another new machine.
Think of transferring the old harddisk to the new laptop or keeping it as an external back-up source(you will have to buy an USB to SATA adaptor plus harddisk case) sa you can use it like a flash drive...

Mr. Pete Either you have muted the Notebook, which is only a possibility, so do check the speaker icon in the bottom right corner, and check the MASTER,WAVE.... or other scrolls.

If that's ok, then probabbly the drivers are currupted you can get those driver form here.
