Question about Belkin (F5D5231-4) Router

Picking up another network?

I just set up my G+ router. I think my neighbors also have a Belkin router because I can't pick up my network, which I named my last name, I can only pick up theirs. It's like my router has just extended their network, if that is possible. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Re: Picking up another network?

Do you perhaps have both Windows Wireless Zero Configuration and the
wireless configuration utility that is supplied by the mfr of your
computer's wireless interface running at the same time?

there are many cases of people accidentally connecting to the wrong network because both neighbors used default settings on their equipment. It is a very good idea to secure your network, both to discourage the casual wardriver (who will likely just move to an unsecured system) and to prevent accidental use by a neighbor

Also, make sure that you set your network as the default and disable the "automatically connect to non preffered networks" (or something worded similar to that.

Hope this is helpful.

Neighbor stealing from my Belkin internet connection.

Reinstall the software and set the router up again with yourself as the administrator and also set it up as a secured connection. It will walk you through the process screen to screen. You will then get him off of your network.

I have a new ipad and it is not picking up the wireless router even though it shows full strength.

When you select the connection on the Wireless Network Scanning. Turn it OFF and ON again.

If it shows on the network and is connected.

Just click on it and then on FORGET DEVICE.

Rescan... by ON and OFF again.

Try to put the correct password for router access.
It is probably an incorrect password for granting access to the wireless network.

If it shows on other computers and the network is up and working. You should have no problem.

If the Ipad is not detecting the router, then the problem is on how the network is set up.

You will then have to work with the router settings.

Hope it helps.

God Bless You!!

Lost my password and cannot connect new netbook

  • If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.

To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
  • Step 2reset-password-linksys-router-1.2-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep2 span.image a:first').attr('href',''); }); Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and reconfigure it again.

To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
    LinkSys Default Password

On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."

Once you are past the login screen, you are able to reconfigure the LinkSys router.
You want to go to the management tab and change the administrator password to something else to keep others from accessing your router.
  • Step 3 After changing the administrator password then you will need to enable WEP or WAP security so your nosy neighbors aren't tapping into your wireless network. I am picking up 4 networks with my pc antenna.

I have a Belkin router & I just got an Ipod touch. My Ipod touch is not picking up my router. How can I connect to my router?

How far away from the router are you?
Try moving close to the router, then when connected you can move away.
Does your network have a hidden ssid?
Your network maybe hidden for security reasons so you will have to type in your ssid manually.
Also make sure that your router will allow such devices onto its network, e.g the router may only allow known computers onto the network, in which case you will have to add your ipod to that list.
Last but not least, make sure that your router is set to use all Draft wireless B/G/N 802.11.
    Good luck :)

I have secured my router by connecting my laptop to the router by ethernet cable so now my network comes up as security enabled but I can't seem to connect to my wireless network although it shows the...

Remove the neighbor's network from the preferred network list.
add your own network in the list. If your router is old router then upgrade the firmware of the router. Firmware is the software of the router.
You have connected your laptop to the router, to secure the wireless network. When you connect the laptop to the router, make sure that the wireless network connection will be disabled.
Once you change the wireless settings, enable the wireless connection and connect to your network.

I have belkin g wireless that i have to constantly connect

I have experienced the same issue with belkin routers. First, test your laptop with other wireless connections {e.g. Starbucks, McDonalds, etc..} to see if your laptop's wireless adapter is working okay. If so then it sounds like your Belkin Router needs to be reset to the factory defaults and then your personal wireless network settings re-entered.

If that doesn't work it may have to be replaced.

Belkin router model F6 D4230-4 will not connect to my two Google Phones a G1 and a My Touch. However my phones will pick up the neighbors signals. I have laptops in the house also but no problem with them

Are you broadcasting your SSID? That is my first guess. My Android phone simply does not see a network that is not broadcasting the SSID.
Also, are you using a mode that allows for 802.11b? This is the old, slow mode. If you have set your router to 802.11g only, or to 802.11n only, the phones might not see the router.
You need to set the router so that it allows for mixed mode, 802.11b/g. If it is not the SSID, then that could be it.
Finally, if the phone sees the signal but can't connect you might determine if MAC filtering was turned on.
Good luck, I'll bet it is one of these three things, and as I think back, my first bet is that the router is set for g or n only, and then the ssid and then the mac filtering.

No internet connection on two desktops

Hi Tony, you think your laptop is connecting to your neighbor's wireless network. So try this.
1:Go to Control Panel, click on network and internet connections, double click NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Point your mouse to the WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTIONS. It should show that you are connected(and it will show the name of the network that you are connected to). If you do not recognize the name of the network that you are connected to then you are connected to your neighbor's network.

IF YOU ARE CONNECTED TO linksys--unsecured wireless network, there is a chance that your wireless router is not functioning at the moment.

Try this first and i will be waiting if you have a follow up problem.

    Good Luck
