Unless your printer main board has failed, the only
reason that a USB connection would not communicate
is if your printer is turned off or if the USB printer cable
or connection is faulty. Try connecting other equipment
with the cable and see if that gets recognised by your
computer also try connecting to a different USB socket
on your computer.
Hope this helps.
Try a new cable and a different USB port. It's possible dirt is making for a bad connection or that the cable is slightly damaged and this other computer is more sensitive to the problem.
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (who has dealt with a damaged USB cable that didn't look bad and gave an intermittent problem with one computer and associated hardware.)
You need to isolate the problem. You tried using multiple cables and reinstalled the printer driver several times, but you never mentioned that you tried connecting the printer into another computer. What if the problem is the USB port of the computer and not the printer cable?
Try connecting and installing the problem printer into different computer for testing purpose only. If it work, then the problem is the USB port of the computer. To fix this, try updating the USB driver of your computer.
If same problem occurs using another computer, then you need to contact the manufacturer of your printer. I've heard this problem before and I don't have an update if there's a fix with it.
Is this the first time you connect your printer on that computer? This can be the USB port does not support a 2.0, or your data cable/printer cable is damage.
lift the scanner cover until locks into the open position.
you will see the usb socket. plug it
route the cables through the trench out the back of the printer .
First check that is defined as default printer in 'installed printer' in
Windows, and that you are not sending documents in printout to another
non connected printer present in Windows under 'installed printers'.
Unplug completely computer from power socket and from USB for 10
minutes, to get rid of electrostatic problems on USB. Plug everything
back and restart.
Check the USB cable, replace USB cable with a different one to check if it was the cable.
Uninstall
printer from 'installed printers' in Windows (delete). Disconnect
printer from USB, reinstall printer from printer software CD or
downloaded driver. Connect printer to usb only after installing, or
when explicitly required by software, this is important
TRY THIS, remove or uninstall the printer from your computer and turn it off.
Now, before you switch back ON the computer, remove the USB connection of your printer.
When the computer is done loading. Install the Printer using the CD that comes with the printer.
When the installer ask you to insert the USB connection of the printer, that's the only time you should insert it to the USB port... switch ON the printer... Installation should proceed smoothly until completed.
