Re: ice and water working intermittently, makes ice,...
Go into the test mode and use 0 4 as the test code between the dispensor board and the main board .(communication test) Sounds like the main control board though .

WR55X10942 Main Control Board WR55X10942 Main Control Board This sounds like motherboard failure. I am not sure what your model number is but that will be important should you have someone to help repair your refrigerator. These problems are common on the Artica Profile Models. I will be here to help you repair if you should choose, Thanks Sea Breeze
http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_1.asp There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem
The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.
You know the door open switch kills all that. Have you checked it? Their is a possibility the control board is shot in the dispenser but take care of the cheaper things first. Pay a hundred fer a board and find out a 5 dollar switch is wank, that ain't a good thang. I have your refrigerator service manual. Always heed any safety suggestions within. This ain't yer mommas user guide. GSS and PSS Rate the answer so if my stuff is lame another tech can run with it. G'day.
Your refrig display , has lost communication , with the main control board , located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . The control board , is easily replaceable , with 7 or 8 plugs , attached to it . The part number , for your board , is WR55X10942 . It runs about $150.00 .
This could be as simple as the door switch or as complex as the dispenser control board. I would try the door switch first. When the door is close it turns on the dispenser controls. If the contact is defective in the door/light switch then this happens. Unplug remove the door switch and mark wire locations. 1 Powers the lights and the other powers the dispenser. and one is the power itself. Sea Breeze
is the child lock on that would make the dispensers not work, also is the door closed and not bllocked by anything, if thiese are not the case I would reccommend resetting the unit.
I had this problem with a similar refrigerator. The problem was the slide switch burns itself especially if you slide it from ice to water while holding the glass in to get ice and water into your glass. Better to slide it to ice, press the glass in to get ice, release the glass to stop the ice, slide the switch to water, then press the glass in again to get water. I "fixed" mine by removing the control panel and soldering some of the connections on the slide switch together so that we now have no crushed ice function, but the ice cubes work again. You can also replace the circuit board in the control panel to restore it to like-new operation. I could not find a place to order just the slide switch.
Not sure if this is the same problem with your unit, but sounds the same.
The dispenser works intermittently. I cannot see how to remove the control board.
