If the motor shows continuity (Yellow and Blue wires), then you don't need to replace the heat protection fuse. Check the small circuit board in the plastic housing with the wires going in. Use your ohmmeter across the small 220 mfd capacitor to see if it is shorted - which was the problem with my daughter's VSM700. Replace with any small 200UFD capacitor that is over 10VDC and orient the cap so the negative lead goes to the half moon of the silkscreen on the top of the PCB.

SOURCE: My Viking mixer stand bogs down and stops when it

Hi,
The best you can do is to send it right back and make them fix it right... there is nothing you can do with that motor to make it run better..

SOURCE: it's completely dead - won't turn on. worked fine

You need to remove the motor and find the heat protection fuse on the side of the windings. The fuse is rated at 140 and has a red tip. You might be able to get one from Radio Shack but Viking sells them for $3. Solder into place and take care not to overheat while doing so.

I have a Viking VSM700 mixer that worked one day and was put under the counter. Next time it was brought out, it did nothing. No smoke, no noice, nothing. Any ideas?

On mine, one of the two brushes was NOT advancing to hit the motor armature as it wore. Had no power. Had to take unit apart to get to motor. We spread the metal brush holder slightly with a screwdriver and allowed the brush to slide so it can make contact with the armature. Motor now works fine. Shame on the Viking Company for dropping the ball on this product!!!

Mixer quit working

Quite likely you overloaded the capacity of the motor and it simply overheated. The brushes inside the motor may be burned out/corroded. I suggest putting a light load on it and seeing how it performs. Often, when this kind of thing occurs, a bit of light duty use will get the motor back into good working order. But be careful to not over-tax the unit again. There are several different KitchenAid mixers on the market, some nothing more than ornamental, all the way up to commercial-grade.

Viking stand mixer dough hook will not come off

Had the same problem with dough hook not coming off. Sent to a Viking dealer in Rockford and was quoted $600. to replace gear box. Took it back without repairs and call Viking listed in manual and sent it to them on a Monday and by Friday had it back fixed and no charge.DM
