Audiovox AVT988 9" TV Problem

We just purchased an older van, and the tv that is in it, the sound will work, but no picture. We brought it in the house, and has the same problem. I am thinking about taking it to tv repairman to see what he can do, since the tv has a special plug I guess, so the passengers in the back can use headphones. What do you think? Thanks!

Re: Audiovox AVT988 9" TV Problem

Guess there is a problem with the video Circuitry of your TV. it could be as simple as cold solder or could be worse as IC troubles. if you have no experience with electronic troubleshooting/servicing then its better if you send for repair. since there is still sound from your tv, it won't have a major problem.

Tv wont turn but makes clicking noise

There is short circuited component/s at its main board. Power supply regulator section is working fine. You have to check for fault at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the horizontal scan output transistor, and check. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

We have a 2000 conversion van. The TV will for for about 5-10 minutes then the picture goes out and a white strip appears in the middle. We can still get the sound however. Please let us know if it is...

You'll probably find that tapping on the TV will bring the picture back when it collapses. This is a common problem caused by bad solder connections to the set's vertical output integrated circuit. The connections can develop cracks over time from heat. A few minutes with a soldering iron is all that's needed to fix this. A TV shop could touch up the connections for some nominal charge, but I have no idea what it might be these days. It's been a long time since I worked in a shop, so I don't know what labor rates are now. Shouldn't be more than $50 as a guess. But it's certainly fixable, and less than the cost of a new TV.

2005 Conversion Van has TV What do I need to do to receive Signal

If the audiovox does not have digital capability you will need a converter. The converter "converts" the digital signal back to the old signal so that your tv will recognize and play it. Thanks for using fixya.

Sound no picture

Hi there!
If the set is a few months old, it should still be under guarantee. Return to seller for repairs. You will need proof of purchase and purchase date. Good Luck, JUS004

No picture but have sound

RDD6 - I had the same problem with my AVT-1498. Took it to the repair shop who told me it would cost hundreds to repair. I figured I could find a replacement crt for less but was wrong - they don't make these tv's anymore, and really don't make any 12v crt's anymore period. So I decided on a 15" 12v ready LCD model which fit the hole where the old crt TV use to be. I needed to rig it to hold the LCD bracket but that wasn't too difficult. Then just hooked the wires back up. Good luck with your situation.

No Picture on TV

? What is the model # off the back ?

Does the video work on the RF coax cable input?

For instance,as a test, can you hook-up from VCR coax RF out

to TV coax in,put the TV on Chan. 3,play a tape and get audio and video?

Are you matching colors when trying the A/V inputs?Yellow, red,

and white out of DVD to yellow, red and white in on back of TV?

Then select video input on tv===dial "00" or use input button on

original RCA remote. Are you using original RCA remote that

came w/TV ? Do you have the owner/operator manual for the TV?

Sorry to ask so many  ?????   Let me know how it goes!!  T.
