Question about Panasonic KX-TG5632M Twin Cordless Phone

1 Answer

Phone only rings once

Incoming calls only rings once. If I pick up I can have a normal phone conversation. I have no problem dialing out (we have a dial tone).

I have a DSL and we do have the DSL filters. No static or fax issues.

It is just that the phone only rings once, it is a very short ring or sometimes no rings at all.
I plugged in another phone... same issue. Check with AT&T and all looks good on their side.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

What happens when you call your number from a cell phone? Rings once and then it is dead silent.

Do you hear ringing tones all the way? No, just one ring

What about if you wait 5 seconds after your phone stopped ringing? If you pick up de house phone, you can have a normal conversation.

Can you have a conversation with another party? Yes

Do you share same line for the fax and a phone? Yes, but fax is not connected. It is a MFD. Only turn it on if I need to send a fax or receive a fax.
Can you disconect your fax machine and test? N/A

I really, really appreciate your time to troubleshoot this issue. We are running out of ideas. The ringer is working, volume is up high, ringer is set to ring 6 times, before the answering machine picks it up.

    Thank you in advance.

An MFD is a Multi Functional Device i.e. copier/ fax / scanner. The MFD (fax) is not connected to the phone line.

One ring that is it. And yes you can have a normal two way conversation.
It is just that the phone only rings ones. I tested it with another phone and we got the same result.
One ring that is it. The problem is the one ring and it stops. The caller hears one ring and then silence.
    Thanks for taking the time.

What do you mean by MFD? What I asked you before was if you call your phone from outside or cellphone and lets say you hear the ring but dont pick up until 5 seconds into the ring sequence do you still get the two way conversation? Also when you call your phone and you dont pick up does the ring no answer occur?

Normally, the ICD group is 601. So, press PROGRAM, pick a button, and dial 54601 STORE. The button becomes a log for all calls ringing into the 601 calling group.

We have a Panasonic KX-T7433 telephone at work but 2 of the phones do not ring when we have a call we have to go and pick up the main phone at the other end of the room. We can call out on the phones but...

From the phone, press intercom and dial 790. That clears any "cleaning person" button presses. Check the ringer control button on the left side of the phone to make sure it's on. The "we can't pick up the call" is disturbing because the line should appear on your phone. In a TD system, the lines are normally numbered 01-12, but that's on this side of the pond. If you have ISDN ot EI trunks, they may be different. In a standard key system, the line buttons are called Single CO (SCO) buttons and are programmed by prressing Program 99 on an idle phone, then the button and reading them. If they don't say SCO 01 02 03 etc, you dial 0+01 02 03 etc STORE to change them.

Pick up the handset and drop it back down when you're finished.

Hi: I have a Panasonic KX-T7420 phone. When one of the incoming lines is ringing and I pick up the handset, it picks up the intercom and not the incoming line. Is there a way to get the thing to answer...

There are 2 things that would prevent you from being able to answer a ringing phone by picking up the handset. Your phone has to be ringing, and you need to set preferred line ringing on incoming calls.

The second part is easy. Press PROGRAM 99 and dial 22 STORE on your phone. Now when a call rings on your phone you can pick it up. If you can't, then your phone is not ringing.

Ringing is set in system programming.

Phone sees call, but can't pick-up. Can't get d-tone to call out?

Just a suggestion (without knowing what troubleshooting steps from your manual you may have taken): Remove the batteries from the back of the handset and then put them back in after a few moments. My Panasonic KX-TGA8231B (DECT6.0) phones were acting up just like your Uniden is. All functions returned after this power interrupt "reset" with the batteries was done. Hope that helps. Good luck. - - -Gerry

No ringing sound for second incoming call

On the intercom, if it's a TA or similar phone system, dial 7311# for call waiting on outside lines and 7321# for call waiting on the intercom. (0 cancels).

How do you forward a phone call from this phone to a cell phone?

to forward calls...go to your phone service providers website and help section for complete instructions...
with most companies simply pick up the phone... wait for dial tone... press *72 wait for 2 beeps and enter the number (area code first) that you would like it to forward to...once you enter the number wait for the line to ring... once it rings and is answered you are all set!
if it doesnt ring or is in use.. try again within two minutes...you should hear two short rings if it is activated...
to deactivate call forwarding...
pick up the phone (in the office)
wait for dial tone and dial *73 or #73
you will hear two short beeps... it is then off..

Cant retrieve incoming calls from someone elses extension

Of course you picked the feature with conditions :-)

From the intercom 40 picks up any incoming call. 4* picks up trunk calls, and 41 plus ext number picks up a specific ringing phone.

The condition is that an extension can block call pickup by dialing 7201.. 7200 clears it.

INCOMING CALLS

Swap phones with a known working one. If it is really the position, you'll have to read the buttons. Go to a working location and dial PROGRAM 99 press the buttons and write down what they say (ie CO1 CO2 etc).

Then go to the non-working phone, press program 99 and the same buttons. If they don't say anything, then dial 0 01 store
press the next button and dial 0 02 store, etc. Do that on all 6 line buttons.

With luck, the phone will remap to the proper lines.
