Hey, Question: Is the 2400 watt the peak rating or the continuous rating of the unit, and what is your power source for the inverter. If 2400 is the peak, the 1200 is probably the continuous. Your 75 watt fridge will draw probably 150-170 watts to start up, which will load the inverter to draw 15-17 amps of load on your 12 volt power source. If the battery supply is weak, the current draw at startup will cause the voltage to drop and set off the alarm. Getting the start up out of order may work for a while, but will eventually blow the internal fuses on the inverter, or possibly blow out the capacitors. Check the condition of the battery supply, and make sure the bar fridge is in good working order to resolve this problem.

Watts are a simple calculation of Volts x Amps. Check the power supply or the information plate on the fridge. Buy an inverter that is slightly larger than the number you get.

Inverter problems

3K is a big inverter. Depending on mfr, though, inverters put out numbers for PEAK, not AVERAGE Watts, and have trouble supplying large amounts of surge current on demand. Some appliances with large motors present large turn-on demand, like A/C's, washers, ovens, and fridges and will give converters trouble.
Your Microwave, if it's a big one, like a 1.2 or 1.3KW will ask for a lot of juice when it first turns on. But once it's on for a few seconds will probably be OK.
Get a bigger or different inverter, or a smaller microwave.

Can a 3000 wat inverter run this unit

Maybe, the way to figure that would be the 20 amp draw of the unit times the 120 volts that the unit runs on which gives you a wattage of like 2400 watts...that is really very close to the max output of the inverter and it may cause it to over heat...

I need to install my inverter 18 feet from my battery

a very thick one,,,like a baby battery lead on your car,,,its a very bad idear to have it so far away from the battery point, you would be far better off finding a closer place to put it as the volts drop off would have a big drop in out put on the inverter,,,also thats one big mother of a fridge to use 3000 watts????
you need a small power station to run it,,and if it do use 3000 watts your inverter is far to small to do the job, read the out put plate on the inverter,,it says 3000 watts max? not all the time,,,,thats about 2000 watts realy running contently and the whire to feed the inverter will need to carry about 30 amps so your car battery is say 90 amp hours plus the volts drop off, you would be lucky to have the inverter running for 3-4 hours before your battery go's is very flat on you!

My Motor Trend Inverter 400 watt give's me a fault light upon start up. The fuse is good

Sadly replacement is the best option. It is just not cost effective to get the inverter repaired.

The cost starts out about 150.00.

Best option is to take it back to where you purchased it and hope you can get a new one.

Hope this tip helps.

Am a seven each power inverters owner.

Recommendations: Purchase a Pure sine inverter 1500 watt. We have had one of these running 24 seven for almost a year now.

I just bought a RoadPro 2500 and i want to buy like a dorm fridge how many watts or volts size would work??

If you are referring to the RoadPro RPPI-250
  • 2000 Watts Continuous Power
  • 2500 Watts Power Output @ 10 Minutes
  • 5000 Watts Peak Power Output.
  • A small fridge will use about 500 -700 watts, with startup wattage at around 2000watts.
  • So, a dorm fridge will work fine.
  • the RoadPro converts DC to AC voltage, so a regular 120 volt dorm fridge will work.

Xantrex 2412 will not open my Chamberlain Lift Master Prof. door

That must be a pretty big door opener. Problem is probably the motor's starting current draw. Most AC induction motors pull 5 to 7 times their rated running current when starting from a dead stop. (about 7,820 watts) That's much more than the surge capacity of a 2.4 Kw inverter. Sounds like you need a bigger inverter or a smaller door motor.

Motor trend 2400 watt inverter has 147 VAC from both hot and Neut

Assuming you are testing alternating current and not direct current that sounds quite normal. Plug with confidence. You are using equipment designed for 110v-120v and you're getting 113.8v where it matters most. Higher voltage to ground is nothing unusual, that's just how this inverter is designed.
