If you have an option to turn off USB charging for the camera try this and see if it will work then assuming that all you really want to do is transfer files. If not, then you'll need to switch the camera to a direct USB port on the computer or buy a powered USB hub.

IMac deactivates USB port when I connect my Nikon P300

Try connecting the camera directly to the computer, without going through a hub. If that doesn't work, then buy a card reader.

Will not power my usb devices. seems as if there's not enough power getting to the hub

Small travel hubs use power from the Notebook's USB port, the issue you are experiencing is "most likely" caused by there not being sufficient power output to allow all devices to run successfully - the following devices should be connected directly to the notebook:

* External hard drives
* Printers

If the issue occurs with Mouse, USB Key / Dongle Drives, Keyboard then the issue is either a faulty peripheral ( the mouse/ Key etc) of with the Dongle itself.

When charging the mouse hang

This usually indicates that your external device/camera is draining too much power from the USB ports power supply: try plugging the mouse or camera in different (opposite side USB ports if available or use a 'powered' external USB hub.

Good luck.

My usb ports do not working.When I put my mouse in it, the mouse lights become on but in the desktop the pointer is on its place and no hardware are found.I check 3 more mouse and key boards but the...

Follow the steps given below to refresh USB ports.

1. Right-click My Computer icon on the desktop, and then select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager button.
4. Click the plus (+) sign to the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

Please note, repeat Steps 5 and 6 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

7. Shut down the computer.

CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected, instead of the Restart option.

8. Wait for 5 seconds and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, a "Windows has detected new or added hardware" message window will open.

The above steps will refresh the USB ports.

Now connect the USB devices like mouse, video camera, your external usb hard disk...usb hubs...whatever you like and the drivers should install automatically.

Tip: It is always recommended to connect the main usb devices at the rear end usb port, as they require more power to initiate.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

How can I solve this? A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port?

Disconnect all the other USB devices (except for the mouse and keyboard) and try again.

If you get the same message again, try using a different USB ports until the device can be used without getting the message.

If you aren't able to use the device without the message, you should buy a powered USB hub. A powered USB hub has a power supply that needs to be plugged into an outlet, and it will provide the power needed by the device. The power for the device will no longer need to be supplied by the computer - so you won't have a message - nor run the risk of damaging the port.

Select a powered USB hub that has the largest value or watts or amps. More is better.

Hp nx6110 laptop error power surge on hub port

OK if you have anything plugged into the USB Ports at bootup, unless Keyboard or Mouse, remove everything, and see if it boots normally, if it does, then the "Hub" you are using may be faulty, or a device you are using is drawing a lot of current at switch on and overloading the USB bus, that can only supply 500mA. If it still does it, and you do use a USB KB & Mouse, then remove them one at a time & reboot, between, and see if it was one of them causing the problem. If you have nothing attached then your internal USB bus is flaky.
