I have a stainless steel Ducane BBQ with five burners plus side burner and a rottisserie burner , which does not work. It is approx 5 years old and I have never used the rottisserie till last week. I have...

Since you've never used it. It may simply be a case that the infrared rotisserie burner is dirty and clogged with grease from cooking on the main burners. In addition, the Thermocouple and the igniter for that burner may also have a grease build up. In which case it won't allow the burner to light.

The electronic igniter that lights the main burners, also ignites the the rotisserie burner. Are you geting the click noise on the main burner igniters? If not, the battery in the igniter button needs to be replaced. Be sure to take note of the way the old battery is facing, when you unscrew the igniter cap. Because, that's the way the new battery should face.

Also, try match lighting the rotisserie burner. To do this, turn the Rotisserie Burner's Control Knob to the ON position and push it in, as you touch the lit match to the burner. If the burner lights continue to hold the burner knob in for a couple of minutes. This allows the Thermocouple and the ceramic plaques to heat up completely. Then slowly release the burner knob and the burner should remain lit.

If it doesn't stay lit, clean the burner and the Thermocouple ,in the manner that is described in your Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

I have a kenmore gas grill that has the side burner. Up until recently, it has been working great. However, now the main grill won't light when pressing the ignition button but the side burner lights...

More than likely, the electrode spark ignitors on your main burners need to be cleaned. They will get covered with grease over time. Also check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark ignitor being sure that all wiring is firmly in place. To clean the electrode(s) ... a cotton ball dipped in alcohol will work fine.

Hope this helped you solve the problem and Happy Grilling!

The striker button won't light the grill but a match will. It is an older Genesis Silver approximately five years old.

Hello,
If your piezzo ignitor is still sparking, but not lighting the burners, then you may have one of the following problems. 1) If you have a standard push button piezzo igniter or a rotary style igniter, check for spark. Can you hear or see the spark? It's hard to see the spark in bright daylight. It's easier to view the spark at dusk or dawn. It should spark an "arc" at the burner. If not, adjust it if necessary. 2) The igniter wire may have a short, causing the spark to arc somewhere else along the wire and not at the burner. Replace igniter wire. 3) It's also possible the igniter tip where it sparks has a cracked or broken porcelain portion of the igniter, causing the spark to not arc at the tip where it's supposed to. Replace the igniter piece. 4) Your burner may be clogged or rusted at the point where the ignitor sparks to light it. Clean the burner. 5) If your push button ignitor is not sparking at all, it may be stuck inside from being out in the weather. While pushing it, spray it with WD-40 to unstick it.
Hope this helps. Douglas

Two burners run too hot with yellow flame.

Hello,
It sound like your back burners have a partial blockage or possibly are rusting or falling apart or have cracked seams. Remove the cooking grids and burner shields, and examine the burners closely. If you can't find a blockage inside (spider web, bugs nest, etc) then their condition is probably deteriorating. Let us know if you need more assistance.

Burner won't turn on

The first question I have is the flame size good on the 2 burners that did light? If the flames are smaller, then you might just need to turn off the tank and disconnect it, then reconnect it and very slowly turn the tank valve on again. You might have turned the tank valve on too fast causing the excess flow valve to close and only give a trickle of gas through. On the other hand, if the flame size was good on both burners, then your igniter may not be lighting the rear burner, but typically if the other 2 burners light, the 3rd burners lights off the others. Did you try lighting the 3rd burner manually with a lighter to see if it was getting gas? If it lights manually, then the spark igniter may be your problem. It's also possible the rear burner has clogged holes from rust or drippings and is difficult to light. Without seeing it, it's just the process of elimination til it works. Try all those things and see if that gets it going for you. Check out my tips & tricks on gas grill lighting for more detailed info. Problem with gas getting to the front burner

Follow manufacturer's recommendation in resetting the excess flow safety device....(Turn burners and LP cylinder off...Disconnect regulator on cylinder. Turn both knobs to high for at least one minute...Then turn them to off...reconnect the regulator to the LP tank...Turn LP valve VERY slowly (30 seconds) until fully opened..then start the grill in the usual manner. ALWAYS TURN THE LP TANK OFF WHEN DONE USING THE GRILL....

Second burner will not ignite on Weber grill

Its probably an obstruction in the burner. Take both the burners off and clean them inside and out with a brass brush. You need to clean them both, since the second burner is dependent on the first working properly.

Step by step procedures are in your manual. Go to http://weber.com/help/manuals.aspx to download it.

Burners keep going out

Remove the burners and clean the inside of the burners with compressed air and or a small long bottle brush.
The burner holes have a rust scale buildup in them.

Ignite prob

You've got two different things going on.  First - the type of igniter used on your model does wear.  I have had mine for over 10 years and have gone through 3 such igniters - and I grill nearly 3 times per week over the 25 week "grilling" season where I live. Spring for the $12 part and just replace it. The other issue sounds like a clogged cross-over system.  I would remove the burners, including the cross-over bar on the far left side that connects them.  Clean the exterior with a stiff steel/brass brush and the inside with a bottle brush.  Make sure all the holes are clear to allow gas to flow easily - use a wooden tooth-pick to do this to make sure you don't change the size of the holes! Put that baby back together and I think you'll find you'll be good as new!
These grills are great.  Now, if Weber could only fix the uneven heat problem between the left and right side I'd REALLY be happy!  (I wish they would even just admit there IS a problem!)
Good luck and happy grilling.
