It's a flash problem - could be a dead fuse or flash board. Contact your local Sony service center or if they ask too much, feel free to contact me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com
I work in a Sony service center.

Those Optiplex systems have been nothing but a pain since they where first released. Especially now that they\'re getting older! If it\'s not an F6 driver issue, it\'s some obscure driver that does exist for windows 7, but it\'s like hunting Easter Eggs.. If ever you run into any issues with an Optiplex of any kind, please feel free to look me up specifically. I see these desktops more than any other brand and have worked on at least a thousand of them over the years.

But to your problem! Yeah, the driver shouldn\'t be messed up if you just formatted the drive. Give this a shot:

Now I don\'t have an XP machine in front of me, so I\'m doing this from memory:

Left click your start button, then right click on "my computer." There should be an option that says "manage." Click that and a window will open. Click "disk management" in the left pane and give it a while to load. It could take a few minutes..

Once that\'s done, at the bottom in the center there will be a list of all your drives. The external will be there since it\'s at least recognized in device manager. The next things I\'m going to talk about are all accomplished with right and left clicking for the most part.

First, see if the drive is initialized. To do this, right click on the drive itself all the way at the left. Try every possible variation of options to initialize the disk if it\'s not initialized (there won\'t be options to initialize if it already is I\'m pretty sure). This is a lot faster of a process than determining exactly how it should be done - which I learned the hard way.

Once it\'s initialized or doesn\'t need to be, next is to assign a drive letter to the partition.

There may not even be a partition on the drive yet. If not, right click in the space where it shows the drive\'s capacity. Left click on "create partition" and make one. You can make one big partition or split it up, whatever will work best for your purposes.

Once that\'s done, or you already have a partition but still can\'t designate a drive letter, you\'ll want to see if it\'s mounted and initialized.

To do this, again, right click on the partition you want to use and left click on those options. Try all possible combinations of options one at a time until it works.

Once all this is done, you should now be able to right click on the partition and left click on "change/choose/whatever a drive letter." Pick one. Doesn\'t matter what it is, though if you pick a drive letter closer to Z, there\'s less chance that when you reboot that drive letter will be automatically reassigned by windows to something else and corrupt all your downloads and/or applications you may have installed. Plus, if you have your my documents folder there, this would be really handy to do.

If this fixed your problem, please let us know. If not, let me know too so I may put my brain to work and think of other solutions. I\'ve ran into this exact issue many times. This is just one way I fixed it.

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
I believe you're having problem with the Operating System on your computer. Unfortunately, Lenovo will not provide a product key for the Operating System since the an OEM version. What you can do is reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery Sofware or the Recovery Disc that came with the computer. Follow these steps for you to be able to reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

My phone did not change time when we went to daylight savings time.

Hi,

If you could provide your cellphone model, we can help with accurate suggestions. However, mostly for all cellphones the Time adjustments can be done under something like "phone settings" or "initial setup". Once you locate the date/time section, you can manually adjust the times or you can use the option for the phone to take the "Network" time; in which case, you'll see DST changes getting done properly the next time around.

Hope this helps.

-best regards,
M

Hi:
Sometimes air gets into the power steering system, and can cause noises.

often, the technician that installed the hose, could ensure all the air is out, by having the car up off the ground, and turning the steering full left and full right, while bleeding the system, as well as making sure that it has 100% fresh fluid too.

I get "access" but the camera doesn't get any futher than that

Option 1 (If you are able to access the MENU of the Camera):

Try Initializing the Camera as follow; Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

1. Please press the Menu button on the Camera.
2. Then, select the SETUP menu and select the SETUP 1 option of the Camera.
3. Then, select the Initialize option to OK.

Option 2:

If issue persists try Power reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.

Option 3:

Apply some thrust or a little bit bang on the Camera to free the dust particle as this issue may occurs if the Lens of the Camera stuck or jammed due to dust particles near the lens.

If the issue still persists then Service may requires to resolve it.

To get the Camera service/repair, check this/above link.

You can find that option in Service Mode 6 (Ram Initialize).
Hit Function + 7
Hit Monitor 4 times, then " * "(star)
Press 6 for Ram Initialize
Option 14 (All job clear) is the one you are looking for.
Hit enter and it will run for a few seconds and reboot itself.
