SOURCE: Connecting a Yamaha VX7 Subwoofer on my Yamaha HTR 5730 AV Receiver

Hello srqwrk,

You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

SOURCE: Humming coming from the speakers

From all speakers?

How is the audio connected to the TV (be specific)?

Keep in mind that a TV is not generally an audio source as its programming always comes from something higher up the audio food chain than itself. Get the audio to your receiver from whatever THAT is, not the TV.

SOURCE: My direct TV remote was in the wrong mode when I was inputting and I lost the sound.I have a yamaha htr 5730 receiver and I have no idea what I have done, but I want my sound back, but how?HELP please

Remote has nothing to do with you sound unless you had it programmed to turn the unit on. If that is the case then contact direct TV to program it again. If not the case, just turn on the Yamaha and select the proper input and you should be good to go.

Htr 5730 is DEAD, no display, will not turn on...

Pull the top off the unit. Look where the AC enters on the inside, check the fuse. It's the only one on the unit. If it's blown replace, if not, the unit needs to go to service. Hope this helps
