Removing or Reseating Oven Door To remove most oven doors:

  1. Open door to the BROIL POSITION, where you feel hinge catch slightly.
  2. Place your hands on both sides of the door near the handle.
  3. Lift the door up and away from hinges.
  4. If the door does not readily lift off, there may be 2 phillips head screws on the inside of the door down near the hinges that are holding it on.

To replace the door:
  1. Place your hands on both sides of the door near the handle.
  2. Resting door against knee, line up door with hinges and slip into place.

For instructions specific to your model, check your Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions. Download a copy of your Owner's Manual and/or Installation Instructions

We have a GE profile spectra (approx 8 years old), the oven lights with a boom the first use of the day. seems to light ok each time after. just started doing it a couple of days ago. any info would be...

Hello,
That sound very typical of a weak oven igniter. When its cold it takes so long to get to temp.it needs to be to ignite gas so gas collects in oven chamber before igniting then as its on it get hot a bit sooner. Eventually the igniter will weaken even more to the point will it will not ignite the gas at any time, replacing it now will prevent that. The part number for the igniter is WB13K21 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
repairclinic.com
apwagner.com
apdepot.com
midwestapplianceparts.com

To replace the igniter;
remove oven racks
remove oven door by locking hinges into place and lifting off of oven(if unable to figure how to lock hinges this step can be ommitted but it much easier with door out of the way)
remove oven floor
unscrew igniter from burner bar
disconnect wiring, which will be under storage drawer
pull out old igniter
run new igniter wiring down below to storage drawer area
screw igniter to burner bar
connect wiring
Test to see if works without booms when cold
reinstall oven floor
reinstall door
reinstall racks

I hope i have been able to help you fix your oven,
Gene

How do I find the part number for replacing control board for GE?

WB27T10290
I would not be so sure about that the problem is in the control board. Check switches on the door lock assemblies first.

Faceplate of door by lower L/H hinge cracked. How do I remove the door to replace the Faceplate?

Front doors are attached inside the microwave at the top and bottom of the oven cavity. Top case has to come off using, likely, security torx screw drivers.
Remove the top hinge.
Remove the bottom hinge.
Door falls off.
Replace the front panel of the door.
Reinsert the lower hinge with the door, close and latch the door.
Holding the door firmly to the microwave, tighten the door hinge. Replace the top hinge.
(On some units, both hinges need to be installed at the same time. Use masking tape to hold the lower hinge - makes it easier.)

Ho should I install a replacement microwave door for the GE Profile microwave JVM1660SB005?

You should notice 3 plastic tabs on top an3 3 on bottom, and 2 on each side. You will need to carefully work the metal out of those tabs until it seperates. It is a whole lot easier if you remove the door from the oven first. Take off the grille above the door, it is held in by 2 screws up top, then just lift the door off the hinge.

Oven door no longer closes

sounds as if the hinges are no longer closing properly, its the only thing gonna stop door from closing, unless you can physically see something protruding from the door that would stop it. no t totally unheard of for the hinges to fail, especially after a self clean cycle

My oven doors wont close all the way

When the door came open you may have bent the hinges. Open the door fully and it should stop at 90 degrees. If lower than that, then the hinges are bent and will need replaced. Also you may look at the install directions and see if your model shows removing the door. If it is removable for install, you can try removing and reinstalling the door. It is possible with removable doors for them to slide up during install and then they are out of alignment for closing. Hope this helps.
