Modems come in 2 types (today )
1: you own it.
2: the ISP owns it.
but if you read your manual the modem, last this line .
to reset the modem push the reset for 10 seconds and release.
now only the ISP can , send your , paid for configurations and speed grades to the modem. you must call them or all modems are dead.
if the the modem works last week and the bill is paid then this works.
1: UNPLUG MODEM.
2: THEN PUT IT BACK. BINGO Works in 2 to 15minutes time.
1: OR RESET MODEM..
2: then unplug it.
3: wait 5min.
4:" plug it back in and it works after 15min.
now lets do way 3:
if you stole the modem or just bought one used from say fleabay and the sellers stole it.
no ISP will allow you to use any stolen modem ,!!! they can't legally do that. so. they DON"T
let me give a simple example
the modem is owned by Verizon (serial number proved that)
and you try to use it on Comcast (you will be blocked)
so here is what to do if at wits end./?
drive to your ISP service center, lay said modem on the counter.
they read the S/N on tag and tell you YES?.NO.
or buy a new modem on Amazon, make sure it shows new or factory refurbed , and has 30+ day warrantee.
BINGO it works, but only if its listed by your ISP as supported.
