Mits WD-57731 turns on but shuts off with no sound, no pic

I've bought this tv 2 yrs ago, and now I'm experiencing no sound, no picture when I turn it on. I hear the fans and it sounds as if the tv is trying to power on but it shuts right back off. Initially, after it shutdown I saw the red light under the LAMP indicator. So I bought a brand new lamp($275) from the Mits part department, carefully followed the directions that were provided to replace my old lamp. I plug my tv back up and I noticed that the red light indicator under the LAMP was no longer there and the TIMER light blinked green, which to me was a great sign, however when I powered my tv on, SAMETHING!!!! The tv sound as if it was trying to power on, no picture, no sound, and eventually turned itself back off...........

Hi,
Make sure lamp cover is installed securely after lamp replacement in TV.
And if TV still does not power up to give picture and sound then ballast supply could be bad. In that case you should have repair manual copy to check ballast supply input volts.
Repair manual can be downloaded from HERE for small fee.
Thanks.

Mitshubishi TV WD65C8 picture is dark - has been that way since i bought it 2 yrs ago? sonenergy@qwest.net

If you have a dark picture I would first check lamp and see if correct, and if correct you could have a bad or weak ballast, but I would buy new mits lamp and replace and see if this helps if not check ballast

Check airflow sensor turn tv off

Your TV needs the modified temp sensor installed by Mits authorized service center. It's covered under extended warranty for 3 years after date of purchase. Repair takes about 20 minutes and not too expensive if you're out of warranty period. Part #299P313010A

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php It's major symptoms are clicking, electrical sounds, shuts off and on and get the lamp indicator. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs,It's major symptoms are clicking, electrical sounds, shuts off and on and get the lamp indicator, it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is 915P049010. you can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/Mitsubishi-915P049010-Lamp-Replacement-p/mitsubishi-915p049010-lamp.htmHave a blessed one!
