Could be the carbon brushes on the motor. They're usually quite cheap and easy to replace. In this area you can expect to see a lot of carbon dust (black). The brushes themselves should protrude from the case by around 4-6mm.

Could also be a loose connection between the power feed and the motor.
Will it pump? Some machines die completely when the pump fails.

I have a hotpoint aquarius drier CTD00 when i turn it on the drum spins but there seems to be a grinding noise

It is so common that the washer /dryer machines can create terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

For replacement of bearings check for tips on this visual link:

The dryer drum will not turn, even manually with the belt removed

Sounds like something became wedged against the drum. Maybe a bearing?

Bosch Classixx 1200 - Drum not turning

It could be the motor itself (is there any overheating smell from the motor) or it could be the capacitor which controls the motor. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the motor brushes. I replaced the brushes and all was OK.
The only other thing that could be wrong especially if it overfills with water is the water level switch (this is a pressure switch on the side of the washer) You can easily check this by removing the hosepipe to the switch and blow gently into it, you should hear a clicking sound) This might be the clicking that you heard so it is probably Ok.

Drum will not move

Try to remove drum belt, and then turn drum by hand, if it does not turn , then you have either siezed drum bearigs, or some thing jammed between the inner and outer drum
If drum turns freely, then check motor to see if it is free to turn.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint wd420

if the drum is tight to turn ,then the main bearings have probably seized, or their could be something fast in the drum. Remove belt, and try to turn the drum by hand , it shuold be free with no resitance.
If it is noisy or feels rough, then the bearings have gone.

Drum not turning

Hello

If you look at the motor which of course is on the top right of the drum. you will see either white or black palstic parts inserted eiterh side and a wire connected to them
These are the brush holders for the carbon brushes.. These have worn out and need replacing easily done just get yourselfthe parts and remove the old one and replace with the new ones....
