Can I use this unit with the Nikon SB-28 flash??

If it's a slave flash then it's fine as it has no physical connection to your camera. It simply fires when it senses the flash firing from your SB-28.

What would it cost to get the foot replaced on a Nikon SB 28 DX speedlight

Hi Richard,

About $47.00.

Best suggestion:
Have a Nikon SB-80DX with modified battery cable for $150.00.
Faster recycle time and less weight.

I have just recently boughta Nikon D60 and currently own a Tamron 28-300 lens and a 90 macro lens. I think that I want to buy a strob after a workshop I went to this past weekend. I want to be able to...

The SB-600 will probably do everything you want.

One caution: To use flash off your D60 you're going to need either an external sync cord or a wireless controller. The SB-800 (and the current SB-900) can be used as a controller, the SB-600 can't. But the controller goes on the camera, so you'll end up needing two flashes.

Command mode to fire Speedlight SB-600 remotely from Nikon D40x

Sorry, the D40x does not have a commander mode. You'll need the SB-800 or SB-900 flash or the SU-800 commander. Alternatively, you can use the SC-28 sync cable.

Auto Function Failed

It could be a communication error between the flash and the camera. Check the shoe foot for any damage or stuck pins. All of them must make proper contact with the hot shoe on the camera to get full auto/TTL, same for the shoe of the camera, bent? dirty contacts?
