Re: The porojector overheats after running for an hour.

Replace the Air filters and check the fans. sometimes it is noticed in this model that fans slow down the speed. Also check that is it shows the temp indication.

Try cleaning the filter. If the area where it is installed is enclosed this will also cause over heating.. Make sure you have adequate air flow in the place where it is located and clean the filter.

Infocus Projector IN83 is overheating and shutting down every 20 minutes or so. Talking with online assistance suggested that I replace the bulb so I bought a $200 new bulb assembly and it has already...

I had the same problem so removed the bulb which is very easy, only 3 screws, found the wire mesh inside was covered in dust so vacuumed using a brush head attachment, removed all the dust & did the same to all the external vents too. The projector now runs smoother, quieter & does not over heat after hours of continual play. Hope this helps, Chris

Turns on and runs for 2minutes and shuts off

Hi, Did you buy it new? How many hours does it have on it. I have a Sharp projector for which I bought a used bulb which started for 1 - 2 mins then shut off. Restarted a minute later then shut off again. I bought a new bulb and that solved the problem. It could also be a weak ballast if the bulb has low hours or if the filters are dirty, it could overheat and shut off. Make sure the filters are clean and the cooling fans are running and the unit has good ventilation.

Hope this helps,

I have a PLV-Z1 about 5 yrs old, just replaced the bulb and it has continued to operate for about 10 minutes then turn off. You cannot turn it on again for hours. I have reset the buld life. What...

It's possible that this problem is caused by overheating. There is a "Warning Temp" LED which should light if this is the case.

The following steps may help.
1) Ensure that there is ample ventilation around the projector, ie air vents are not blocked by walls, or have other heat sources nearby.
2) Ensure that the room temprature an humidity are not excessive.
3) Clean the air filters. Turn off the projector and disconnect the power. Turn over the projector and remove the air filter by pulling the latch upwards. It is located behind the leg nearest the lens side)/ Clean the air filter with a brush or wash out particles (it must be dry before reinserting). Replace the air filter, making sure it is fully reinserted. Clean the air intake vents (there are two of them near the air filter on the underside, nearer the back of the unit).

If the problem is caused by overheating these steps should help.

Pretty sure it the bulb as most are rated at 2000 hours; but also check for full air flow - clean filters etc. Bulbs can run hotter as they age, so air flow is more important, because there is an inside heat sensor that will shut the machine down.

NP310 NEC Projector shuts down after about 15 min.

Check for good air flow: that filters are clean and the fans are running and not blocked. Check the bulb hours - it may be nearing the end of its life expectancy. If heat is the problem, the inside temperature sensor will shut down the machine or it may be faulty. Inside electronics would be the next suspect.

On my optoma H77 I am replacing a burnt out bulb with a New one. The ''TEMP'' light blinks immediatly without the projector getting up to normal opporating temp. Is there a ''Reset'' button ?

clean out the projector with canned air to get rid of the dust that could be causing it to overheat. also make sure the fans are spinning. if it still blinks, replace the temp sensor. if it overheats alot, the sensor will wear out from excessive heat.

I have an Optoma EP716 projector. It has run for

either the lamp has/is going to expire, or the ballast is bad. if the lamp has bulges or black spots on the inside, replace the lamp and clean out your projector with canned air. too much dust keeps in the heat and makes a 2000 hour lamp go in 1100 hours.
