Re: F4 - what is it?

F4 means it has a shorted oven temp. sensor and will need to be replaced.

When baking in top oven for any period of time my oven will start beeping with an F4 blinking on the oven temp screen? What is it trying to tell me?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F4 error code indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. However, I believe it is the sensor as the problem is only with bottom oven. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

F3 f4 gaas oven when preheated these numbers appear it beeps and shuts off

Hi, replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.

My GE gas oven flashes a f4 error code several minutes after turning it on with a beeping.

Your temperature sensor located in the top right of the oven has shorted out and must be replaced.
The GE brand part is a little on the expensive side.
You can use the Whirlpool sensor at 1/3 the cost.

My oven comes on and reaches the right temperature but then it starts beeping and shows F-2 or an F-4 in the display window. Then it stopps cooking.

Your temperature sensor is inside the oven in the top rear section. It is metal about 3 inches long. You can remove it from inside the oven. The F2 and F4 codes is a bad temp sensor.

I am getting a F4 code and beeping. The beeping

Replace the oven temperature sensor. It is located in the back wall of the oven. 4-6 inches long,up high on the right or left side depending on model. Most can be changed from inside the oven rather than through the back.

Dacor Oven Won;t Heat

power surges can short out the electonics in appliances. If you can locate where the tech sheet is and I would say its behind the control panel on top, look at the wiring diagram and see if there are any replaceable fuse's. Or a resetable fuse for the heating element. If not check to see if power is getting to the main control bord. If there is power there you may need to replace the control.

Mewood What part did you call "thermostat"? If you?re talking about the device which operates the oven temperature, your oven does not have such thermostats. It has two oven temperature sensors (one in each oven) and a control board (ERC). An error code "F4" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC determines an open oven temperature sensor circuit. It can be the sensor itself or the wires that connect the sensor to the ERC. The F4 message will not be displayed in the time of day mode. To get access to an oven sensor and wires, the oven has to be removed from the cabinet. Then you have to remove the rear cover. Then unplug the oven sensor and check the resistance across the oven sensor. It?s supposed to be about 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven sensor to the ERC. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC, but most likely the problem is with the wires and/or connections. Part number for ERC is 62965, part number for oven sensor is 62593. back.
