if you have 2 tiny screw drivers, if not, the tips of a butter knife might be skinny enough, you can try to insert them a wee bit into both sides of the tray and pry outward, carefully of course, and unjam the tray
There is a fault with the DVD Changer and the noise is the gears grinding. This is a common fault with these units as a small arm within the unit breaks and blocks the mechanism.
You can either try and replace the complete DVD Changer or remove it and just us it as a surround sound system with your auxiliaries connected to it.
Hi! the chgr err code indicates one of you trays is stuck inside the dvd tray unit. this occurs typically when the reader is initializing the last disk viewed and you push the exchange disk button. This happened already twice on my system. I did solve the problem by opening the unit and removing all components until I could access the trays and manually release the mechanism. I only recommend doing so if the player is out of warranty and if you are not afraid on working with small electronic/ components parts. I could not find any other non-invasive solution to the problem.
Hi, not being too familiar with this model ( i.e. whether a single disc or 5 disc changer). it sounds like the CD player section is trying to find home position and will not continue until it has done so. It is very likely that there is a disc in the mechanism and depending how competent you are with a screwdriver, you may be able to release the disc either by removing the top cover or check on the underside of the machineto see if there is a hole in the bottom where you can wind the cd mechanism to the eject position.
Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262 1. Unplug the unit power. 2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit. 3. Turn it on. 4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears. 5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON. 6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.
