How to pull out tranny and fix TO bearing on a 97 mustang v6. 5 speed thanks alex

If tranny is manual shift you may have a bearing and or bad gear. Try changing tranny fluid. Check manual for correct fluid may use tranny fluid rather than gear oil. I recommend using Royal Purple fluid or gear oil. This very expensive but will slicken up the shifting and extend bearing and gear life.

The vehicle must be raised on four jackstands. Disconnect the battery pos(+) terminal.The driveshaft has to be removed . Then remove the three starter mounting bolts, this will allow acess to the main feed wire to the starter, remove the 1/2 inch nut and lock washer and remove the wire.Place the starter to the side. Next you'll need to remove the rear tranny mounting bolt. Then remove the crossmember from the frame. This is where you'll wish you hadn't started this job. You must support the tranny while sliding the crossmember out. This can easily be accomplished by placing a small floorjack centered under the tranny pan with a 1 foot by 1 foot square piece of plywood on the jack lift cradle.Next you'll want to remove and put aside any sensors (back-up, speed, gear position...) if utililized from the tranny. Remove all bell housing bolts. remove the slave unit from the bell housing. Very carefully roll the tranny back a small amount and lower the jack a small amount. Continue this until the tranny is free of the pilot bearing.Lower and remove the tranny. Remove the pressure plate in a rotation motion as not to put too much strain on any one single bolt. Remove the pressure plate being careful not to be hit by the clutch disk which will now be free. Check the condition of the flywheel for cracks and glazing. This will determine if it needs to be turned or replaced. Check the pilot bushing with your finger to make sure it turns smoothly and freely.Then......put it back together with your new parts. the only way to actually check that torque conv. is to take it out... i have seen a bunch that have stripped out splines inside the converter, or a broken pump shaft... if the fluid is not OVERfull on the dipstick i would say its probably the converter. hope this helps and good luck

Internal damage to tranny. Is this original top loader or after market tranny? Really doen't matter - take it to a transmission repair shop unless you can pull it and take it apart.

Sounds like a tranny rebuild to me. It's not brain surgery but have someone helping you the first time you try this. Might just be easier to get another tranny from a bone-yard.

The neutral safety switch just allows you to start the car in only park and neutral. you may have a linkage problem, or something wrong with your tranny.

then cable is not that hard to fix but first you need to see if it is melted or any thing like that if it is u will need to get the outer shell also. to change it all you will need to pull the dash panel out so you can get your hand in the to pull the shell and cable off the spedo then on the trans u will see where it goes in it at you should be able to pull it out also this is you must change it all . if all you need to fix is the internal cable then just puull the cable frome the tranny then pull the guts out u cane get a rebuild kit from you local auto parts store when you get that just messer and cut to your size you need

Suggest you check your linkages to the tranny first, ensure nothing is bent. If your shift is controled with a wire cable, check it out also, maybe is rotten.

Additionally, you didn't clarify if your wheel is straight or turned to the extreme right or left. If that is the case, example: if the wheel is locked in the left turn position, pull on the steering a bit harder to the left to release the lever tension, that might get you out of park. Good luck!
