If your system need CAN detection you must connect to car CAN system first, then if it is Code protected next will ask for Code.

How do i get past safe to input code on a cdr500

Hi,
With the ignition ON and Radio OFF - press and hold the AS button and switch the radio on at the same time whilst holding the AS button in.
SAFE will disappear and CODE - - - - will show on the display. Enter code and radio will operate - you may have to press and hold AS again to enter the code once last digit is entered (depends on radio).

You need the ignition on and radio off before you press and hold the AS button and switch the radio on while still holding the AS button until you hear a beep

Radio is in safe mode and I do not know how to put my code in.

First look @ the documentation of the car to see if you can find the Radio code Its an added sticker usually at the front of the manual you cant miss it!!! It is definatly not printed in the manual as a part of the car. The manuals are universal and it usually is on a separate sticker/sheet/writing.Turn on radio - the word SAFE will appear in the display. Press th P.SCAN and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display.Release buttons.Do not, under no circumtances, continue holding them down or press them once again. This will cause the radio to consider the number 1000 to be the input code.Use station buttons 1,2,3,and 4 to enter the code number on your Radio Card. Use the button 1 to enter the first number 2 for the second number 3 for the third number and 4 for the last number.Once you have entered the code and it shows on the display, press the P.SCAN and RBDS buttons down again simultaneously and hold them down until the word SAFE appears in the display.Release buttons. Soon afterwards a frequency will be displayed.

My audi a6 radio has a SAFE message in the screen what it does mean?

Did you disconnect the battery or run it down? This message means you must enter the correct code. If you do not have the code contact your Audi dealer. I'm not sure which model you have but these are the instructions for Symphony 1.
I'm not sure if this also applies to Symphony 2 (which has a built in single slot 6 CD changer)

Switch on - display shows SAFE as you indicate.
Press and hold TP and RDS buttons at same time until 1000 appears.
Release buttons (dont touch again or 1000 will be entered as the code).
Using station select buttons 1 to 4 enter code. Use button 1 to select first digit of security code, button 2 for second digit etc (buttons 5 and 6 cannot be used). So, say the code is 5238, you'd press '1' five times, '2' twice, '3' three times and button '4' eight times.
Once code is entered press TP and RDS buttons together and holde until SAFE appears
Release buttons and a radio frequency will appear in the display.

If you accidently enter the wrong code the word SAFE will start flashing. You get ONE more chance to go through this procedure and enter the correct code.
There is a more complicated procedure to go through after this with one hour time delays between attempts.

All of the icons from the screen disappeared!

try to reboot your computer into safe mode.

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
  3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
Then click start
click run
type in msconfig
uncheck everything under the startup tab except your antivirus
and reboot

Instructions to unlock stereo

THIS WAS POSTED ON THE AUDI TT CLUB WEB SITE.

Turn on the radio. The word "SAFE" appears on the display.

* Press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display. Release buttons. Do not, under any circumstances, continue holding them down or press them once again. This would cause the radio to consider the number "1000" to be the input code number.

Use stations buttons 1 - 4 to enter the code number on your Radio Card.( THE RADIO CODE SHOULD BE WITH THE OWNERS MANUAL-??) Use button 1 to enter the first digit of the code number, button 2 to enter the second digit, and so on. Station buttons 5 and 6 cannot be used.

* Once the code is shown in the display, press the FM2 and RDS buttons again simultaneously and hold them down until the word "SAFE" appears on the display. Soon afterwards, a frequency will be displayed.

(If you do not have the "Radio Code", the Audi dealer, or someone, will have to pull the radio out to get the serial number off of the back.)

The radio can now be used again.
