follow directions from the owners manual. while unit is powered up, unplug power cord from back of unit - wait 5-seconds. Depress the DVD open/close button while re-plugging the power supply cord to the unit. LG splash appears onscreen and unit goes into re-set. you do not loose any of you programing or settings.

Unplug the unit, hold down the play and stop buttons on the recorder, not the remote, keep holding them, plug the unit in then push the power button...
If it starts clacking and says please wait you are on your way, it will take a few minutes...
