Re: Processor Speed Problems

In bios you might have your computer set to auto fsb and the ghz can change depending on usage, if you are in full time gaming this should be at 3ghz for most of it. try finding a program that can record these results as you do something processor hungry

Re: Processor Speed Problems

Check your Power Options (located in the Control Panel) and make sure your computer is not throttling the processor to save power.

I have 2.6 celeron processor with intel 865 motherboard i am up grade tell us who is processor best

on mb with intel 865 the bigest CPU is pentium 4 @ 3GHz. socket 478
however your MB might require to update microcode for the new CPU.
one more thing: this chipset Intel 865 is obsolete, and intel does not manufacture this cpu type anymore.

you could only upgrade the processor and RAM in this condition i.e.

you can only change your an upgraded p-III processor like 1.0 GHz, 1.1 GHz or 1.3GHz and
upgrade the RAM by changing to 256 in each slot.

that is all what u can do with ur pc

PC shuts dowm

It sounds like your computer is running to Hot>
You can check the temp. in tour Bios if you just want to see how hot it is running
I usually will run the computer for awhile and the reboot
and and before then press F4 or sometimes F2 to then go to setup
From there you bios will be there and you can see if your fans and the cpu temp and your Video cards temp..Which could be also getting too Hot and if you tweak it or if the Fans on the boards are covered in dust this will cause it to heat up. That goes same for the Cpu Fan too.

Note Please do not make any changes to your BIOS and don't Save anything

Thank You

Defective sony/intel cpu?

Sony tech support, refused 2 show me how 2 reset the multiplier.apparently their firmware has a multiplier of 6x locked in.nowhere in the bios/cmos can it be says its suppose to be a 9x multiplier 2 achieve the 1500mhz.why would sony throttle down a 1.5ghz rig to 997mhz?they cpu must be defective & to stop it from blowing up on people they set the multiplier @ 6x.ok fine but don’t advertise it as a 1500mhz rig & make consumers think that’s the speed they’ll b many other u.s.citizens r unaware that they’ve been swindled/cheated/misled?what about a recall? What about some legal action against them?i’ve spent hours & hours e-mailing them & making phonecalls & they’re intent on acting as if they’ve done nothing wrong.

Ok first of all can I have the model of the unit? secondly usually when you first boot up the computer you can hit delete to enter the bios setup. Now unfortunately you have to hope that the multiplier is in the bios. Sometimes it is a jumper located on the actual motherboard. Once I get your model number I can assist you further. Try that first once in the bios look around to see what you can find. Also you can change it in power management in control panel. But they are probably correct most laptops do bump up the speed automatically. This helps to conserve power. Which you would want with your laptop.
Hope this helps.

Processor upgrade

Need to look at the motherboard specs along with the processor "Socket". It will usually be a 754 or 939 depending on what your motherboard says. I wouldn't try too fast and set yourself up for disappointment. I would upgrade the RAM before the processor.
