Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

It seems that if i uninstall drivers and installation program i can get the scanner to work for a couple of scans. then the scanner seems to lock up and not work until i go through this process again. is there some sort of virus out there that causes this problem?

Hi--
What you have to do is uninstall everything for the Canon MP....then turn off the printer...and UNPLUG the cable that connects the printer to your computer. Now re-install both the software and the drivers (go to the website to get an updated driver & software at www.canon.com). Now, once that is completed, turn the machine back on and plug in the cord that connects the printer to your computer (this is when it automatically downloads the driver needed for the software to work- MP navigator- and the scanner) Hope this helps.

My oce 4780 scanner has a problem, it warms up ok then I scan a couple of maps then the maintenance and clock light come on. If I turn off and on it will eventually go away, but the help on the oce scanner...


the drivers for the scanner might have been corrupted
you might have to uninstall the printer/scanner restart your computer then reinstall the printer/scanner and its drivers
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options plus you can troubleshoot
lift the lid on your scanner lay the photo face down then select scan document/photo it will ask what format you want to scan it then it will ask where you want to save it browse select the file/folder where you want to save it (my pictures) most common

Uninstall any generic driver and disconnect the data cable before installing the Lexmark software if using the USB cable. Are you starting the scan from the computer or the scanner? (Is the monitoring program running on the computer to hear the buttons?) Try launching a scan from the computer.

Try a new USB cable and a direct connection if you use a USB hub or print server. Scanning requires two-way communication so a bad cable will block scans even when the printer works.

Some scanners have a transportation lock; make sure that it is unlocked. (Usually located near the hinge of the scanner cover).

Did you repaired old drivers? if so first uninstall your products drivers and also its folders from program files, then uninstall "wrong update" and reinstall scanner. sometimes built in scanning modules comes wrong but everything works with original scanning software, use different software to scan and some of them may work perfectlly.

HP C4480 will not scan a picture without locking up


If you happen to have the nvidia chip sets I can help you. First thing you want to do is un-install the printer. Use the un-install in the program itself an then go to add remove programs and make sure everything is gone. Then, check on your start menu and in your programs folder. Delete anything you find for hp. Reboot. Go and download the version 10 drivers. The version 11 drivers that come with the printer do not seem to work with nvidia chip sets. I had this same problem. that's the specific driver. download and install that. if you find that vista programs can now 'see' the scanner, but still don't 'know what the scanner is', then you can uninstall the driver again, and then go back to the exe. file and right click on it. Then click Properties. There is a chance that you will see a Compatibility tab. If you do, click that and choose XP compatibility mode from the list, press Apply, then ok. Then install it and reboot again.
If it still doesn't work, then either there is no Vista compatibility for your scanner, ie it's too old to use with anything later than xp, or you need to clean the pc and the registry up with something like ncleaner, which is free and a really handy program, i swear by it.

Canoscan lide 20 Error; Release the lock switch, detach the USB cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed.


hi.. there is a lock under the scanner you need to unlock it... lock it to prevent damage while transporting...

Lexmark 1270 scans but will not print


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue

Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL


Microtek is famous for making a good product that will last you a good while if it is maintained and taken care of. Yet their lack of support for said products is lacking. Try to uninstall and reinstall all the software for the scanner. Make sure before you uninstall that you still have the install disc. If not then you can find the drivers on the Microtek site.

Scanner not working


Hi, there are a couple of things you may want to try. Some of these if not done right might make you loose access to your scanner, proceed at your own risk. 1) really lock your scanner before booting to windows, then proceed to scan, then it will tell you that is locked, follow directions, remove, unlock, plug back, proceed to scan; or 2)use a different USB port (front and back/side); or 3) download and use (preferably new) drivers @ http://alpha02u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900 or use the CD installer that came with the product. Uninstall your scanner: right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, look for your scanner, right click, uninstall. or Start, control panel, add/remove programs, remove your scanner programs. You have to reinstall them all again (better with new drivers). Hope this work for you and good luck.
