There are water lines running from the water source to the water inlet valve of your refrigerator to the ice maker or water dispenser. It is usually copper or plastic. The sound you may hear if louder than when it was bought could be from leaks on the line or the valve. Inspect the line and check if there are leaks. The sound may also be amplified by the refrigerator's housing.

I got whirlpool refrigerator side by side model ED5RHAXNBOO my ice maker sometimes work and some times dont work....I want to know where is the ice maker valve is located to check it.

Go behind the frig. See where the 2 water water lines connect behind the rear panel u removed. That is the water valve. After disconnecting the electricity, u can easily remove it and take it to the parts store for testing.

No ice.

Pout about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps but does not refill , replace the water inlet valve ( the piece the wall water line connects to behind the refrig ) . Also check the tube which fills the ice maker as it will freeze up , not letting water go into the ice maker . This is also caused by a bad water valve .
If the ice maker does not dump the water poured into it , replace the ice maker .
Also , check that the coils are clean under the front of the refrig , as this will cause slow ice production and can cause the ice maker not to dump due to too warm of temperature . Ice maker has to be 5 degrees to operate .

My Whirlpool side-by-side fridge is only making about 4 ice cubes every 12 hours. Any ideas on what maybe wrong?

I would suggest replaceing the water valve , behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to , on the refrig , AND remove the front kick plate , and clean the coils on the bottom , of dust , lint pet hair , etc . If your ice maker cycles , at least 8 cubes at a time , should dump . If only 4 , then not enough water is going into the ice maker .

I have cold water but the ice maker is not working, there is no water in the ice maker

The refrig has 2 coils on 1 valve . 1 coil is for water dispensor and the other is for the ice maker . You need to replace the water valve behind the refrig . This is the piece that the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

I am getting no water to go into my ice maker ,m

Whenever water is run to a refrigerator icemaker there is a filter. Depending on the composition of your water, your filter can get a build of of chemicals that are found naturally in water. Change out the filter. If that doesnt work... work your way backwards.. check the copper pipe that runs from the wall to the frig to ensure it did not get bent or cracked while moving the frig out to clean, etc.. Hope this helps. Good luck

In door ice dispenser does not work but the water dispenser does.

check to make sure there is water or ice in your ice maker tray. If none then problem is usually a water supply issue to the ice maker. Behind the frig are the water supply inlet valves. One is for the water dispenser in the door. THe other is for the ice maker. However when one goes bad they both are replaced as one unit. Also Check position of fingers in ice maker. If not in a vertical position then try to reset the ice maker unit and worse comes to worse, replace it with a new one.

Ice maker whirlpool fridge

FIRST MAKE SURE IT'S ON,,THEN YOU NEED TO SEE IF YOU HAVE WATER TO THE WATER DISPENSER,IF YES CHECK THE TUBE GOING TO THE ICEMAKER,PULL TUBE OUT LOOK INSIDE TO SEE IF FROZEN LOOK TO SEE IF THE WALL WHERE TUBE GOES IN IS FROZEN,IF NO TO BOTH YOU HAVE A BAD INLET WATER VALVE,TURN WATER SUPPLY OFF,REMOVE PLASTIC TUBING FOR ICE MAKER AND DOOR WATERGOING TO WATER INLET VALVE,GET THE PART NUMBER AND GO TO YOUR LOCAL APPLIANCE PARTS STORE AND GET THE NEW PART,REPLACE TURN ON WATER AND ALL SHOULD BE GOOD,HOPE THIS HELP,THE WATER VALVE IS ON THE LOWER BACK SIDE OF FRIG.

Noise from bottom of Frig

could be a solenoid going bad. these are usually located and the back rear of the unit, access it from behind (pull it out from the wall). take care .. it's energized with 120 volts AC. you can get a new solenoid unit at applicance parts places. OR solenoids could be okay and something (water or ice) is signalling it to actuate every 5 min.
