Starter clicks when I hit starter button

Next time it wont start, and starts clicking, tap starter moter, with like your lugnut wrench, if it unsticks and starts, you probably need a new starter

There is condenser shaped part attched to the starter moter this is the part which makes the starter moter to spin and when it is stuck the moter does not spin you can check it by one person sitting in the car holding the key to start position and another one hit it softly with some spanner or something The starter moter will move there is a small gear in it which requires replace ment Or the other possible reason can be the carbon brushes in the starter moter are worn out or the place where these brushes touch on armature the place is worn out that Y ou will only come to know when you will take the moter away from the engine Lastly I hope you might have checked your battery that it is giving sufficient current to the moter

it sounds to me like its probably your starter bendix. when the starter turns over it springs out and engages with your flywheel and turns over your moter

could be the starter is drawing to many amps and needs to be replaced.

if the key turns lights on the dash. u can jumper the starter thru the starter relay in the fuse box under the hood. 4 wires, one hot all time jumper to starter wire thru relay wires at fuse box

this click is likley to be the starter trying to work it could be just a very bad earth from the battery to the engine or body of the truck or a bum starter, and bad battery leads will also do this, so clean every lead and tighten them all up, however i feel its just a fulty starter moter

tap the solenoid on the starter probably a bad starter solenoid.

to answer your question it could be a couple of things

the battery connections them selves (corroded) clean up both and reinstall then try if it does not work then it could be the connections at the starter disconnect battery and clean those , it that fails then its you starter solinoid and the starter will have to be replaced

Lights dimming a good clue, that means that there is power going to the solonoid but starter moter wont turn. Check all battery connections and starter connections Make sure battery has enough power to turn starter or try jumper cablea.
Sometimes the starter gets jambed up due to poor lube on the bendix. try hitting the housing with a hammer. You can take the starter out and bench rebuild or just replace it its not a hard job,

how do you no the starter is working it may click but that dosn't mean it works try hitting the stater moter when the key is being held on and see if it cranks if it does get a new starter
