Question about Computers & Internet

I am upgrading the memory in a toshiba m55-329 satellite. If I install the I gig sticks in the laptop it will not boot up.If I remove them and install the original 521 gb stick it boots fine.If the 1 gb sticks in any combination it won't boot.Only with the 512.I spoke to cruical and we double checked the new memory and they are the correct ones.I doubt both sticks would be bad.I read youre suppose to let toshiba install memory on this there a trick or what?

I did the same thing with my Dell laptop and when I installed the new memory sticks in it did not boot...I would say the memory you received from Crucial is not compatible with your system...I looked on the Cruical website and the M55 models use one or the other memory, either the DDR PC2700 or the DDR2 PC2-5300 memory sticks.....Both options allow for a 2GB maximum memory upgrade..I would send it back and exchange it for the correct ones.

I can't locate were you install the memory modules

You can purchase 1GB ram sticks for them...need to shop around.

Access the ram slots by switching laptop off / remove battery / depress on / off switch several X to de-enrgise system. Turn laptop upside down and remove one of the small carefull you do not lose screws. Very carefully unclip ram stick / lift up and out.

I need a guide in order to upgrade the memory of my Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7438. I'm not an expert at all but I already did so on another laptop (another brand too) and I know it is possible for me as...

This is real easy underneath you will see a large flap undo the screws hold it, and remove, you will see the RAM slotted into the socket, simply obtain the correct RAM for your laptop, and slot it in besides, or instead of, replace cover, and reboot, it will automatically be detected and used. If you have done it before then you are on your way to being an expert.. Oh we always say and "X" is an unknown quantity, and a "Spurt" is "Drip" under pressure...Xpert... < Joke.

When i try to boot my toshiba a75 laptop i receive a boot last good ... it won't boot i removed memory module i installed 2 yrs ago and it boots ... i purchased new memory module and get same error- it...

Below are the specs to the type of memory that can be installed in the is very specific and cannot be anything else then what is listed. You have 512 mb built onto the motherboard, with one expansion slot. That slot can only hold up to 1 gb stick if the BIOS has been upgraded. Go to Toshiba support and make sure the BIOS on the machine is up to date so it will accept the larger stick of ram memory and make sure all the specs are right on the stick that you have.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

  • Maximum Memory: 1536MB
  • Slots: 1 (1 bank of 1)
  • Standard Memory: 512, 768, or 1024MB (512MB non-removable)
  • USB Support: 2.x Compliant

I have a Satellite 2405-S221 and I was wondering if the max memory i can install is 512K, is there a way to update the bios, or ANYTHING to increase that amount to at least 1 gig??

Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop to up to a maximum of 512 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed.

In short.... yeah, 512k is the max.

Doesn't appear to a bios limitation. It is a hardware issue that is limiting the amount.

    Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

    Laptop Freezes

it sounds like the memory may be at issue as it heats up it dies, then cools down.
if you have 2 sticks of memory take one out and see if it will run.
if not switch to other stick.
if still not running remove all memory as the system should have 64 meg of onboard non removeable memory .

    as per this google :
Memory Upgrade for Toshiba Satellite 2250XCDS, the Toshiba Satellite 2250XCDS takes the PC100 SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 64 MB (non-removable) of Memory.

windows may not boot and run at all with 64 meg so you can enter the bios screen and let it sit there,

instead of trying to unplug the system to kill it just hold the power button for 10 seconds and it should die.maybe.
