Regarding macular degeneration

I heard of it and know what it is. Sun light causes it. Surgery? maybe. Your on the wrong site for this. Everyone I know wears wrap around sun glasses. I think it has to do with old age. If some one can fix it and you want to pay for it. Do it. Just don't make me pay for it. PLEASE

I'd contact Veterans' Affairs straight away, they are different to Centrelink. You may need some type of authority from her.

Are there any signs that can tell you that you need an eye exam?

: Here are some tips to tell if you might need to have an eye exam:

1. If you have not had your eyes tested for more than 2 years - you should get a test done even if you don't feel like you are having any trouble seeing.

2. If you are having trouble focusing and it's not just a one-off because you are tired.

3. Regular headaches

4. You find yourself squinting to try and read something

5. Tired eyes on a regular basis

Can eating carrots really help to protect your eyes?

Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A. One serving provides 210 percent of the recommended daily amount. This essential vitamin is used by the eyes to maintain good vision.

The beta-carotene in the vegetable is converted to vitamin A in the liver and then goes on to combine with a protein called opsin to form rhodopsin. This substance is needed for night and color vision.

Regular consumption of carrots may also help to protect the eyes from age-related vision problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts.

My Aunt has an Acer laptop that she would like to hook up to a monitor. She has macular degeneration and cannot read the screen so she wants to hook it up to her specialized monitor. How would she do this?

You can connect the monitor to the laptop only if your laptop has a VGA plug and the monitor has the right connector.
The connector on the laptop it's usually blue in the center with 15 holes. If your not sure please post your type of laptop model and I will check it out and guide you to your connector.

If you succeed in connecting the screen turn your monitor on and turn laptop on. I know you will say nothing happens on screen, and that's because you need to hold down on the "FN" or function key and press "F4" at the same time, only once. If Nothing happens try again. Know your monitor on laptop will shut off if the screen does turn on, it's normal. Please let me know if you have any luck!
