Had this same problem, more than likely it is your Backlight Inverter. If you turn out the lights in your room to make it as dark as possible and then turn on the tv and hold a flashlight really close to the screen at a slight angle, if you can see movement it is definitely your backlight inverter. These can usually be found on line and are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. You can usually find a video on Youtube that will walk you thru the process. I did mine on my 50' RCA in about 7 minutes, and most of that time was removing the screws from the back of the tv. Good Luck
