Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

Trying to connect wpn824 router though dsl with Windows 2000

I have Netgear wpn824 v3 router, and my isp is through a Verizon dsl. I went through the router steps found here, but none of the PC/Laptop steps address connecting via wireless with the Windows 2000 operating system. Since my laptop does not have an internal wireless modem, I am using a Linksys wireless G Network Adapter (WUSB54GS). Please help. The linksys keeps telling me "Cannot associate with the access point".

Hi,

First make sure that you can access internet through the router when connected to it wired. If yes, then please perform the steps below to configure settings:

1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) on a computer connected to the router.
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the username and password is case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Select security options as 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)'.
6. Set the 'Authentication Type' as automatic.
7. Set the 'Encryption Strength' as 64-bit.
8. In Key 1 type a 10 digit number.
9. Apply the settings.
10. Click on Wireless Settings under Advanced in the left hand side menu.
11.. Click on Setup Access List. Uncheck the option Turn Access Control on and click apply.

Scan for the wireless network on the computer with the wireless adapter and connect to your network.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

How to install netgear wnr834b without cd

It depends on the ISP:

If it's DSL (verizon, att, centurylink, etc)
then you will need dsl login and password credentials. (PPPoE or PPPoA)
some others dont require it (DHCP) so you need to call and ask themt o confirm these.

you might also want to ask them about the ADSL settings: Multiplexng Method, VPI and VCI numbers. This will be very helpful.

For CABLE connections (comcast, time warner, etc)
it should be automatic. but if not try to search for MacSpoofing.

I have been offered a Netgear N150 DGN1000 Wireless ADSL modem Router new for only £25.00 from a friend, however it has a sticker on the box that says ''For BT Connections''. I wanted to know if this...

Well this product DGN1000 is a generic router supplied by Netgear and can be used with any ADSL/DSL ISP. Please ensure that you upload the latest firmware for this router from the netgear support site and then you can use it with other ADSL/DSL ISP.
Hope this allows you to resolve the issue. If you need further assistance then let me know.

Netgear WPN824 router

You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Just got wpn824 and having problrms with pppoe login and pass. Using att dsl ...but that login isn't working

You'll need to set your DSL modem up for "bridge mode". Right now it's acting as a router as well and that's keeping your new router from making the connection. In bridge mode, the modem acts only as a modem to connect to AT&T. Then your router will provide your login information and your computers will connect through it correctly.

You don't give your modem model so I can't give you any specific directions. A Google search for "bridge mode" and your modem's make and model should turn up the information you need. Or you can call AT&T's technical support number and ask them how to configure your modem. (Sometimes these big ISPs aren't too keen on helping you, though. They'd rather supply you with a wireless router/modem at an extra charge.)

Hope this has helped. Thanks for using Fixya!

Sounds link you need to setup PPPoE on your router. Not knowing who your ISP is, Netgear has this website that lists a lot of ISPs support on setting PPPoE up. that is located here: Netgear

If you can't find the info there, basically what you need to do is on your router, typically the main page, you might see an area that lists: DHCP, Static, PPPoE (or something similar). What you need to do, is select the PPPoE option and put your ISP login information (that is on your DSL modem now) there should be a connect or login button once your finished. Once that is done, your router does the logging in, instead of the modem.
