You may have checked the engine to frame ground, but there is a ground distribution box that grounds the different sensors and controls.

slamming the hood shut may have jarred the cruise control unit connections loose check these..

Can be loose speedo wiring connectors under instrument panel or its issue with speed sensor on transmission.

my hood lock is broken, the one on the hood not the latch in the car, on my 2009 Chevy equinox. how do I fix it

I would replace the switch itself. It is likely dirty or faulty

Try disconnecting the hood sensor. Now I can't remember if the sensor goes open when you open the hood or if it goes closed. Try by disconnecting it and see if the hood light goes out if not then jump the wires. The hood sensor is just a small pin under the hood. Looks like a door jam switch

there is pin under the hood and it maybe loose look for the push pin and tighten/adjust, happy motoring

There is a switch on your hood latch. They get damaged sometimes when the hood opens and closes. look down on the latch and you will see the sensor with an electrical plug. There are two 10mm bolts holding the latch in. remove them and the sensor is in the latch.

I have the same problem with my 2007 Impala, now the security system is starting to go off randomly. Does anyone know a easy fix, disconnecting the sensor did nothing, cleaning and lubricating the sensor did nothing either.
