If that is the case what you can do here first is to reset the router, To reset it use a pen and press and hold the reset button of the router for 30 seconds while the power is ON and then after that power off the router for 10 seconds and check if its already fine , but if its still doing the same thing better call the router manufacturer and check for the warranty of the unit....

Sometimes routers can die periodically.
You can perform a 'reset' on the router to put it back to factory settings, but you will lose everything you have configured.

To reset, press(and hold) the reset button on the back of the router (its small).
Continue to hold it for 30 seconds
Unplug the power (while still holding the reset button).
Wait 30 seconds, then plug it in again.
(Don't let go of the reset button just yet)
Wait 30 seconds after plugging it in, then let go.
Go make a coffee or do something for 5 minutes while the router does its thing.
If all goes well you'll be back at square one.

With the router powered on, use a small thin object to press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds. The router lights will flash and this will restore the router to factory default. Connect your computer to one of the routers lan ports with an etherent cable. Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.2.1. This should show the router status page with the default settings.

My router is DG834G v5 and it shows a red light for internet and does not connect ,there is no problem with my pone connection as the old modem is working fine, what do i do?


I understand that you are not able to connect to internet through DG834Gv5 as the internet light on the router is RED. I would suggest you to reset and reconfigure the router using the below steps:


RESET:


1. Press and hold the Wireless On/Off and WPS buttons simultaneously until the Power LED turns red (about 6 seconds).

2. Release the Wireless On/Off and WPS buttons. The LED blinks red three times and then turn green when the router has reset to the factory default state. Wait for the router to reboot.


CONFIGURATION:


1. Connect the cable/phone line coming from Internet Service Provider to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).

2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.

3. Open a web browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.

4. Access the router's GUI by typing 'http://192.168.0.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.

5. Login to the router (username = admin password = password unless you have changed it).

6. Click on 'Setup Wizard' at the top of list from the left menu.

7. Select Yes and click Next.

8. It should give you 'PPPoA Detected' and then click on next.

9. Enter the login and password of the ISP and then click on Apply.

10. Once the settings are updated click on 'Router Status' and click on 'Connection Status' button (at the bottom of the page).

11. Click on Connect button.

12. Connecting to server should show 'Connected'.

13. If you receive 'CHAP authentication failed', close the 'Connection status' window and click on 'Basic settings'. Verify the login and password for ISP and apply the setting again.

14. Open up another browser window and try to access internet.

When i try to console into my router i get a "page cannot be reached" error yes i am using the correct IP


Have you reset the router? Then restart your PC....

Reset the router for 30 seconds. wait for 1 minute. unplug the power to the router and plug it back in. wait for 1 minute.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

When I plug it in the test light comes on but when the wireless light comes on they both go off


these are few steps which can fix your issue,if does not then you can replace device(if under warranty )]

RESET THE ROUTER:
Inorder to reset the router please follow the steps stated below:
1. At the rear panel of the router, near the antenna, there is a very small round pinhole that contains the reset button.
2. Using a pen/pencil/paper clip, hold the reset button for 20 second so that the test light starts flashing.
3. After few seconds when the test light stops flashing Power cycle the unit.
RECONFIGURE THE ROUTER:
1. Connect a ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router(isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that THERE IS NO DIRECT CONNECTION BETWEEN THE MODEM AND THE COMPUTERS (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
4. Access the router settings with the address: www.routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm
5. Whenever prompted for Username and Password please enter Username as 'admin' and Password as 'Password'.
6. Click 'setup wizard'(at the top of list) from left menu.
7. Select yes and Click next.
8. In case you get the message: 'You already have a valid internet connection do you still want to continue', click 'YES'.
9. It should give you either a "Dynamic IP Detected" or "PPPoE detected".
10. If you get "Dynamic IP Detected" click on 'Next'. On the next page select 'Use Computer MAC Address' under router MAC Address' and click 'Apply'.
11. If you get "PPPoE detected" click on 'Next'. Enter the login name and Password provided by the ISP. Click Apply.
12. From the left menu go to 'router Status' and check if you get the internet port ip address.
13. Open up another browser window and try to access internet.

All light on box are yellowish not green and signal strength is excellent yet not connecting to laptop


If lights on the router are yellowsh then that indicates issue with the router. Please reset the router by pressing the reset hole on the router for 30 seconds and then powercycle it.

now reconfigure the router using the steps below:

Router trouble


the way you describe your router's status, it looks like its starting to go out on you, or its gone out. the ports on the router should have the same activity when you plug a computer to it. there is a possibility that the chipsets of the router inside got fried during the outage and the pwoer surge. sometimes surge protectors are not enough, you have to have a UPS to protect the devices. if in case it is best that you contact the macnufacturer of your router or your ISP so that they will be able to transfer you to the right line.

you may also want to consult your devoce's warranty status.
