    You were right! Thank you!!!

I got it fixed, tried downloading video again in my new iMac computer and it died again! I sent it to L.A. to the Cannon people this time...I'm afraid to plug it into my computer again when I get it back...this is getting very expensive! I bought a much cheaper video camera (Sony DCR-HC28) and plugged it into the computer and it worked fine so you have any idea why it would blow again? I'm wondering if there's a glitch in it.

DV tape won't eject from Canon Optura 20. Power on, screen flashes "eject". Battery is fine. Tape comes up but won't release.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

I have a Canon FS100 Digital Video Camcorder. I am attempting to download some video on to my iMac, but then I select "Connect To Camera" I get the message "No Camera Was Found". I have the camera plugged...

The computer is no longer detecting the camcorder for several reasons. It could be the ports on the computer, it could be the cable that you're using to connect the camcorder to the iMac, or it could be the camcorder itself.

Try connecting the camcorder into different USB or FireWire port of the iMac.

Try using different cable.

Try connecting the camcorder into different computer to test the device.

If all else fails, power cycle the camcorder by turning it off and remove the battery for about 10 minutes. Then turn it back on. Otherwise, contact the manufacturer for second opinion.

Hope these helps and have a great day!

Video transfer from Canon Optura 10 to Apple iMac

It should work well with Apple iMovie that came with your mac. There is a new version (imovie 09) that is said to be a major improvement over imovie 08 (the version that likely came with your computer). It is part of the iLife suite of multimedia Apple software. Available for $79 from the apple store. Here's a link to the store page. Buy now
