Question about Canon PowerShot S45 Digital Camera

1 Answer

S45 not powering up

After 5 years, my Canon Powershot S45 suddenly stopped showing any power (turning on, going into photo review mode, etc)!

In the middle of taking pictures, camera shutdown and stopped showing any energy life. I have replaced and recharged two separate batteries with no luck. I also tried to remove/reinstall compact flash card. Also, I can't even enter photo review mode (camera not waking up). Does this mean the camera is absolutely dead? Can I try anything before I give up? Thank you!

Any recommendations for a slight step-up camera if there is no hope for this one?

Re: S45 not powering up

Ditto for me as well. Did anybody have an adapter that lets you power the camera directly? I'm thinking about opening it, but who knows? 5 year obsolescence time-out?

Canon powershot s2 IS suddenly does nothing when powered on

There appears to be an issue with the S2 IS after two years.  See the reviews on Canon's website:

If yours is two years old then you are probably out-of-luck.  It would probably cost more to repair than to simply replace.

You can at least save your photos by removing the memory card and reading the files using a memory card reader on a PC or MAC.

Cannot find a driver for Canon PowerShot S45 for Windows Vista

When connecting a digital camera to your computer with the usb connector, then turning it on the memory card in the camera becomes a removable drive under My Computer and will also bring up a dialogue window that will ask if you want to import pictures, etc. There is no need for a driver.
