The screen control setting may need to be adjusted - the screen contol is a service adjustment and is located internal to the TV. If you turn the TV to a blank channel or video input with nothing connected is the prevailing color red? if so adjusting the screen control may help. You would have to take off the front panel and remove the covering- let me know if you want to go ahead and I'll guide you further - caution since high voltage is present in this area.
30 YR SERVICE TECH.
YOU NEED TO TAKE THE SET INTO AN AUTHORIZED SERVICER. YOU HAVE EITHER AN OPTICAL BLOCK PROBLEM OR AN INTERMITTANT LVDS CABLE.
APGONZO
your blue componant cable is unplugged, eather on the tv, or on the cable box, 95% thats the prob, thats if you are using componant cables, those are red blue green, and red white for the audio
toni, you`ll need a tv tech for this problem, spark gaps need to be cleaned, crt sockets need to be cleaned and crt pins on all 3 crt`s need to be sanded, this is a common issue with this model set, good luck, BMW Rider
You both will need to have a service center come out to try to reset the TV using the reset jig. A JVC authorized service center will be the only ones that will have access to and training to use this jig. It is a good chance reseting it fix the color problem but it could also be something more serious.
Roger, if your contrast (sometimes called picture) and brightness controls are at max you can increase the tubes brightness by turning the "screen control" clockwise, be advised a little turn goes a long ways, don`t crank it too far or you will get retrace lines, you will have to remove the back from the set and follow the red wire down from the tube to the "flyback transformer" on the front of the flyback are 2 controls, focus and screen, do not move the focus control, this should fix your problem.
This is an indication that the red gun is being driven too hard. Have you tried to adjust the red color control? If not try this first and if the control can not adjust the color then you will have to find out if the control grid on the red tube is working and has the proper voltages present. Which you will need the following equipment to do.
Multimeter
Oscilloscope
Along with these you will need a schematic to show you what the signals and voltages should be.
And I might also suggest having a pattern generator and using the color bar signal since more then likely that is the one being used in the schematic as the reference signal.
