Blank Upper and Lower Screens

I have a DS lite that has power but nothing displays on either screen. I was wondering if there was a reset button located somewhere? Can anyone help?

Re: Blank Upper and Lower Screens

I was told a couple of years ago that you can jump the connectors. I don't remember which ones they are but I am having the same trouble. If any one knows which connectors to jump please tell me... I have my Soldering Iron warmed up and ready to go....

NDS lite has the power(green lite flashes), but screens wont lit

When you switch the DS lite on you should notice that one of the screens flashes... if thats correct then the screen that doesn't flash is the one that will need replacing which, I would assume is the upper screen as judging by what you say has a damaged ribbon.

Ds lite battery wont charge i have charged it overnight but nothing the green light goes on but that is it

If the green light is turning on and the screens are staying blank it is a problem with he L2 fuse on the motherboard (located just below the power button).

This can be replaced if you are handy with a soldering iron. If not drop it to a local repair shop it can be fixed for about €20.

What is my solution for this problem I do not have an lcd display on either upper or lower screens. the screens light up but are both blank

When did it first happen? You shoud try with a friend's battery and charger to see if you get anything different. If you already tryied that and tried taking the battery out and back in then pretty much there is nothing else to do, than get in contact with Nintendo to maybe consider a warranty exchage, or for repairs if warranty is expired.

Turns on and lights up but no images on top screen

The DS top screen has two components, which are the LCD display, and the backlight. If the LCD display has gone bad but the backlight still works and the connecter is seated properly, the DS will still power on and the lower screen will be normal, and the top screen will light, but it won’t display anything.

You didn’t mention if your DS is the original DS or the DS Lite. Replacement top screens for the DS Lite are cheap on eBay, but installing the screen is a bit complex. The screen for the original DS is a different part and they are more expensive and hard to find.

I’ve never worked on an original DS, so I can only tell you about installing the top screen on a DS Lite.

First, the DS Lite has to be just about completely disassembled. You have to completely remove the top and bottom cases, pull out the microphone and wi-fi cables, and release the connecter for the top screen, which is located on the main board in the lower case. You’ll need the tri-wing screwdriver. You can leave the bottom screen/touch screen assembly attached to the main board, but be careful not to pull or tear the flex cables. Check YouTube for videos on disassembling the DS Lite.

Here’s the deal breaker for most people: The speakers are soldered to the flex cable of the top screen. I’ve never seen a replacement sold with speakers. You’ll have to unsolder your speaker wires from the old screen cable and reconnect them to the new one. If you can’t solder, you could take the screens to a local tv/electronics repair shop and pay to have it done. I got this information for you from this appears to be a common problem I hope this helps

Blank Upper and Lower Screens

Try plugging it into the charger and turning it on. If it still doesn't work, you probably broke the internatl port for the charger which is why it's turning on then back off right away because it's not able to charge anymore. If you stil have your warrenty, I would try to take it back.

Nintendo DS lite power light comes on but both screens stay dark?

When you boot the Nintendo DS you can change the illumination settings in the main menu.
One the main menu, you will find a sunny symbol in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on that and you should be able to change the level of illumination. If you are also wondering if you can change the brightness during game play, you can't. Games such as Mario 64 DS come with support for brightness change but otherwise you have to do it before game play.
